Eugene is my favorite! He's like Slumdog Millionaire cause he has never been to culinary school and worked his way up and now has a chance to make 20 Million Rupees, its a metaphor, he isn't really like Slumdog Millionaire because he is nothing like Slumdog Millionaire though I do believe he is cooking for love/destiny.

I saw this last night and thought it was fantastic. A couple thoughts though for you Gabe:
1) You mention in your post, "tolerance" and in general I agree. The one problem I see in our culture though, is that tolerance has been redefined. When people say someone in intolerant these days what they sometimes (obviously not always) mean is that that person doesn't agree with them, therefore they are intolerant. I think that is a dangerous and fairly stupid definition. Tolerance is the ability to have completely differing opinions (morally, ethically, religiously, politically, ect) while still being able to view that person with complete respect and as a human being who has the freedom to make those choices.
2) The problem with Prop 8 is that it is intolerant, not because it disagrees morally with Gay Marraige but because it lessens the humanity of homosexuals by saying basically, "Its all well and good that you are gay, but we as society legally think that you shouldn't have the rights that all the rest of us do". As a Christian in ministry who opposesed and continue to oppose Prop 8, I understand it is important for someone to use their worldview (in this case religion) and moral compass when voting. What is dangerous (and un-Biblical i my view) is to legally lessen the humanity of a group of people. In a society that has put sex on a pedastle and made it a cheap and sullied version of what it truly is, its ironic that many Christians have done the same thing, putting the sin of homosexuality near the top of the "worst" list whilst ignoring anger, the poor, the needy, and the simple command of Jesus to love. Do you know how many times Jesus talked about homosexuality? ZERO. And while I would be the first to point out how the genuine Church that I love has done amazing things and continues to, on this issue we have greatly erred. Prop 8 reduces people that need like anyone else to be loved, to be a part of a community that supports them, to be a part of the greater good, to be accepted as people, and it reduces them to an issue, an orientation, a political hot topic. Not only is that wrong, but yes, I'll say it, it is totally un-Christlike.
sorry to go on so long...

yeah, my god I can't believe the View skit was in the top 5. it was painful and way to long. Affleck was a sport and did his best throughout, and his Obermann was inspired if also to long. I thought the funniest part was actually McCain on Weekend Update, especially the "Sad Grandpa" line. Come on, he may be desperate and totally not going to be president, but he has a pretty good sense of humor. i remember seeing him on the Daily Show a few times years ago and thinking he was pretty hilarious. Also David Cook was terrible. Scott Stapp part Deux. The Grady Wilson Put the Fire Back in it sketch was pretty funny!....right?!?

Has anyone suggested the Colin Ferrell movie "Phone Booth" yet? Oh my God, please put "Phone Booth" on the list, though I doubt anyone could finish it without killing themselves. A bad movie is terrible enough, but when that bad movie takes place in literally one location, it magnifies the crappiness by a trillion.

This is probably the post that made me the happiest out of any post i have ever read on videogum. Arrested Development reached television comedy peaks that (in my humble opinion) have only been reached by Seasons 3-8 of The Simpsons and The BBC Office. The fact that it got canceled makes me want to cry, then go watch all three brilliant seasons and laugh, then cry and realize that "Two and a Half Men" is basically the most watched comedy on television and that the world is cruel and unfair.
"Stop licking my hand you horse's ass!"
Another important thing to point out is that Arrested never had the super star character that is Jack Donaghy, who is clearly the funniest on the show. One could make a legitimate case for Michael/George Michael/George Sr/Buster/GOB/Tobias/Lucille/Maebe/Lindsey being the funniest character. The point is they are all equals, which cannot be said of the cast of 30 Rock, brilliant as that show is. Wow, I really need to stop: "The Bob Loblaw Law Blog" You, sir, are a mouthful"

I would like to defend The Lake House as actually being brilliant if one doesn't think too hard. I know that sounds like an insult but its not. If you don't believe me read Roger "I clearly don't give a F**k" Ebert's hilarious THREE AND A HALF STAR REVIEW!!!!: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060615/REVIEWS/60606007/1023
also, I motion for Across the Universe even though my girlfriend would be really pissed at me. that movie was so terrible.

I agree on the Will Forte vote count song. That made me laugh the hardest. It was a great episode for sure though.

my favorite part of the entire episode was during that really stupid Deep House Dish MTV4 sketch when Fred Armisten, Will Forte and the new fat guy were Bear Supply. That was the best 15 seconds of the entire episode!!! And what the hell SNL, more Will Forte please!

Has no one suggested Napoleon Dynomite yet? it is the most insufferable, mean, annoying movie of our time. thankfully its been a few years so i am only sometimes wanting to kill myself when people quote it, but to be honest, i can't tell you how lived through that year. it is honestly so terrible in every way and not funny. hey lets all laugh at this guy cause he is so stupid he is indie and we are all so indie and blah blah blah. Please, Napoleon Dynomite has to go on the list.
