Rick Perry’s terrible, homophobic campaign ad has only been around for two days and it already has more dislikes on YouTube than Rebecca Black’s “Friday” video. THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN, SORT OF!

The Porno Switcheroo Archives: Sesame Street‘s YouTube Hacked

Technically speaking, a Porno Switcheroo is an unintentional instance of pornography. So, the big Powerpoint presentation for the meeting with the bosses that could mean that promotion you’ve been working towards is suddenly interrupted by an embedded Quicktime. Or, the local cable company accidentally airs Dora The Vagina Explorer at 3PM on a Saturday during what was supposed to be a Gummi Bears marathon. Hackers who purposefully replace Sesame Street content with pornographic is something altogether different, although the effects are the same. Also, the Porno Switcheroo Archives is not actually a real thing, so maybe we can relax and not be such sticks in the mud. From CNN:

Hackers appeared to have commandeered the YouTube page of the venerable “Sesame Street” children’s show Sunday, reprogramming the page with content brought to you by the letter “X.” [Ed. note: BOOOOOO!]

The show page was taken offline Sunday afternoon, and visitors were greeted with a message from the video website informing them it had been shut down “due to repeated or severe violations of our community guidelines.” Users who called up the account earlier had found explicit sex videos instead of Muppets.

Uh…..GOTCHA? Not real clear on the point of this. Out of all the things in the world, Sesame Street seems like one of the more innocuous things. It is for children and it is about friendship. I’m just saying that if you want to bring a YouTube page to its knees (?!) surely there are better targets. C is for Confusing. Oh look, I’m a CNN writer now!

The Thing About Baby Tedster

I have a complicated relationship with Baby Tedster. I liked this video of him dancing to Michael Jackson. I LOVED the video of him fishing, and I quote it pretty much all the time. “Can you touch ‘em?” “He’s beauuuutiful.” (They’re both very good quotes that everyone always just GETS.) But the thing about Baby Tedster is that, you know: What the HECK, Baby Tedster’s parents? I’ve watched pretty much all of his videos on YouTube because I’m the worst, and lots of them include his parents (his dad specifically, I don’t want to name names, but it’s his dad specifically) kind of coaching him on the cute things they want him to do for the video. For example, in this video of him kissing a girl. Or in this video of him singing a Justin Bieber song. And of course I do enjoy the cuteness that the coaching allows, I’m not a heartless hate robot, but also it makes me feel very gross! How dare you coach your child to be cute and then force me to watch 25 videos of it because I can’t resist his big adorable head and his cute little voice and oddly on-point observations! I only imagine Mr. Tedster pouring over hours of beautifully shot home video, throwing out the majority that is not cute enough for his Baby Tedster YouTube channel. Gross, Mr. Tedster. Can’t you just enjoy Baby Tedster privately? Phrased in a way that dosen’t sound gross? With all of that said, though: Here is a video of Baby Tedster talking about Justin Bieber’s haircut!

Wanted to get this posted first thing because the video is 75 hours long, and Jon had trouble getting it all to fit on one so part 2 is here, so actually it is 78 hours long. This way, everyone has as much time as possible to get started with this because we’re all definitely going to be watching it from beginning to end, for sure, but what with the whole work-week thing, there’s probably going to be some pauses in the middle to file that TPS report and go to the bathroom. Chris Crocker Is Getting His Own Documentary, Obviously

Me At The Zoo, if you did not know, is the name of the very first video ever uploaded to YouTube by one of the founders testing it out. Which is actually pretty misleading for the name of a self-funded documentary about one vlogger and his obsession with an International pop star? It suggests that somehow this movie is going to encapsulate the entire experience of the Internet as a vehicle for self-expression and a) no, it’s not, and b) I don’t think that Chris Crocker is particularly representative of the way that people express themselves in the year 2011 (or should I say 2007). For one thing, his intent from the very beginning was to get attention. The original Britney Spears video was well-calculated, and it was not his first video. He’d been trying to build a YouTube audience for awhile. I’m not saying this as a negative! Good for him. He wanted attention and he got attention. We should all be so lucky as to know what we want in this world and to succeed so decisively in getting it. But I don’t think that his aggressive attempts for on-line microcelebrity are in any way demonstrative of something bigger. There are other people like him, just like there are other people like everyone, but it’s not some kind of universal truth. All of that being said, I’m sure his story of social ostracism and the relief and freedom the Internet offered is an interesting one, and probably worth telling. This Racist Vlogger Needs To Rest Her Case!

I was having dinner with some friends last weekend and we were talking about how children’s tendency to overshare on the Internet in a way that we old-timers find shocking and unwise is going to become so pervasive as to be entirely normal and so what might be problematic at, say, a job interview now will be meaningless in the future. At the moment, you can certainly get in trouble with your boss for posting a photo of yourself doing a keg stand in a Hitler costume on Facebook when you were supposedly home “sick,” but in a few years from now, your boss will look at you askance if you DON’T post pictures like that. Everyone’s doin’ it, maaaan. It’s just a different world now. Another friend of mine (that’s right, I have three friends, and your jealousy isn’t going to change anything) was talking recently about how offended grandparents get by coarse language but how quaint that seems to us and wondered what on Earth the future generations would do that would be as horrifying to us in our old age. I think the answer to this question is: automated dick pic email signatures (downloaded directly to your brain chip). Write it down. NOSTRADUMBLEDOREUS over here. Anyway, the whole thing is a mess and we should shut it down, but until we do, enjoy this young woman’s “comedy” video:

Stop Urinating On This Guy’s Apartment Building

Public urination is a thing that makes me very grossed out and, simultaneously, kind of jealous. I would like to be able to discreetly urinate anywhere. That would make life slightly easier, and don’t we all want a slightly easier life? Ladies? Gentlemen who’d rather not go number one in public, no matter what? Though when I see anyone doing it (which is rarely, maybe contrary to how this is making it seem so far) I’m the first to tell them that that is so gross and I can’t believe you’re just going to pee HERE. In the world. With everything all around you! Life is hard and feelings about public urination are hard to keep straight. Not for this guy, though! Haha. Yes, in this video a man from Hoxten, England who is tired of people urinating on his apartment building and the buildings surrounding it films outside of his window for an hour. He catches a surprising amount of public urinators being very gross and shouts that they’re “on YouTube,” which was a lie at that moment, I doubt he was streaming* the video live to YouTube, but in any case:
