This Woman Has A Fair Enough Snowman Phobia

I know we’ve had some fun in the past at the expense of those with very silly phobias, and that perhaps the idea that someone has a phobia of snowmen, like this woman in the video does, would be thrown automatically into our LOLPhobia.file desktop folder, because LOLOL, but — HOLD ON A SECOND! It’s easy for us to think that we’re above being afraid of the lovable winter character, but maybe we just don’t really get him like this lady this? I maybe think that this lady is onto something. This clip is very short (so short that I really don’t even have any idea about what it is at all) so I’m not sure if the phobia is of all snowmen or this particular snowman but in the case of the latter, HOLD ONTO YOUR BUTTS!

Another Soldier Surprising Their Kid Video To Make You Cry

I don’t know what it is about these videos of soldiers returning from far away places and surprising their kids, but I watch and love every single one of them even though they make me feel great but terrible all at the same time. Uggghh, THE KIDS! They’re always so happy! And they’re always crying! And then the parents are crying! And then we’re ALL crying, and we don’t even know these people and are just watching videos on our computers! Wonderful, just wonderful. It’s kind of like putting yourself through watching a horror movie, except more heartwarming and then a little different in a few other ways. Well, anyway, here is one of those videos! It’s great! It’s the holidays! It’s time to be around loved ones who are away from you most of the time and who you miss so much and who surprise you in your classroom in front of all of your classmates and who are the best!

What Are Your Favorite Holiday TV Specials?

Something I always want to talk about with people but never really do because I’m not sure if this is a thing that everyone necessarily agrees on, and I don’t want to come off looking like some kind of NERD, but, I LOVE HOLIDAY TV SPECIALS! I also love holiday episodes of normal TV shows. Do you?! I hope you do. And since, once again, it seems like almost everyone is too busy creating holiday memories or flying in planes or riding in buses or sleeping or buying thoughtless gifts at the very last minute to report any important news for us to discuss, why not discuss something that we actually care about? HOLIDAY TV? Great, I’m on board with this plan too. My favorite special is, of course, the Pee-Wee’s Playhouse Christmas Special, because that is the best one. That’s why I picked it for my favorite. It has everything: Clonky, songs, fruitcakes, Oprah, Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon, Grace Jones, an episode of the Penny cartoon, a dreidel, ETC. It is the best. I also love the Twilight Zone Christmas episode, “The Night of the Meek.” Every 30 Rock Christmas episode is great. And of course, you know, A Charlie Brown Christmas and the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer TV special. Those are the classics. Oh and I really liked last year’s Community claymation special that I think was kind of ill-received with some people. I thought it was great, though! So, those are all very good. But so many are very good. What do you guys think is very good? Is the Pee-Wee special your favorite too? Yes?

Be Careful, People Falling Down An Icy Staircase!

I guess it’s as good of a time as ever to remind you all that winter is the scariest and most dangerous time of the year. As we enjoy the holiday season and this year’s oddly warm temperatures (here in New York City) (where everyone lives?), it’s easy to forget that just on the other side of 2012 there awaits a seemingly never-ending nightmare. One of bitter cold, snowstorms during which you have to walk places and you can’t really because of all the snow and the snow gets into your boots that are supposed to be waterproof and then on top of everything else you have wet socks, coats that are never warm enough, the loss of the charm that the day ending at 4PM currently has a loose grip on, and lots of ice. Ice is maybe the worst part because a lot of the time it’s invisible and ALL of the time it makes you so embarrassed when you fall on it, because you look like a huge goof and everybody knows what just happened to you and that it could have easily happened to them, but the fact that it happened to you and NOT them makes them feel smart and you feel stupid. Sometimes there are things that we’re ALL wondering about, but that none of us woud ever have the guts — or the ability — to ask. I can think of a million examples. Like, ahhhh, ok, for example: What is on Suri Cruise’s, the five-year-old daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, Christmas list, and if you added up how much all of it would cost what would the total be? That kind of stuff. Just good questions that every normal-brained adult wonders and tries to find out the answers to, to the best of their abilities. Luckily we live in the year 2011, where Christmas comes every day of the year in the form of tabloid reporting on the internet, and none of us have to have any lingering questions about ANYTHING! In Touch Weekly uncovered Suri Cruise’s $130,000 Christmas wish list. Suri is no regular kid. The offspring of Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes has more toys and gadgets than most of us will ever see in our lives.

Of course, Tom and Katie want to buy all the items on their daughter’s list. What’s on it? A pony. Diamond earrings. Gowns.

A professional ballerina. The moon. The MOST EXPENSIVE PEN. One thing that I would like to know is how did In Touch Weekly uncover this list? I know when you start asking questions about Hollywood reporting the whole thing may come down a little faster than you’d like, but, uh, was it like in the garbage or was it like in a press release or was Katie Holmes gown shopping and it fell out of her purse? I NEED TO KNOW! Oh and then: More toys and gadgets than we’ll ever SEE in our lives?! I’ve seen a lot! I’ve been to both FAO Schwarz and an Apple store. And, finally, I hope she gets everything on her list, all $130,000 worth of stupid diamond garbage. Her life is probably kind of a nightmare, the least her parents can do is buy her a pony to neglect and put diamond earrings on. So, Merry Christmas, Suri! Stay cool! God bless!

And I guess, first, are we going to WATCH that show? Is steam coming out of your ears now because your brain exploded due to how insane the question I just asked was? Well, WELCOME TO MY LIFE. I’m not sure if all of you’ve been listening to Pandora’s “Indie Holiday” radio station as much as I have, but WOW is that is a terrible Pandora radio station! First of all it’s 90% She & Him, and when it’s not She & Him it’s just, like, Matt Pond PA being VERY sad about going to grandma’s house, or the same Death Cab for Cutie song over and over (“Baby Please Come Home”). I have to imagine that other “Indie Holiday” songs exist! But here we are, stuck in this terrible Pandora mix. And yet I continue to listen to it pretty much every day because, well, number one is because I obviously like to create miserable living situations for myself, but also because holiday music is the best! But “classic” holiday music feels like a bit much for a person sitting alone in their room. So, again, here we are. WHAT’S THE SOLUTION? Will we all just have to die, because that’s how dire this situation is? You might think so, but NO! That’s where this video of two lovely people playing Tchaikovsky’s “Dance of the Sugar Plumb Fairy” on a bunch of glasses filled with water comes in! Such a wonderful break from the terrible norm that we’ve dedicated ourselves to for absolutely no reason.

Only one more Monday before Christmas! CAN YOU EVEN BELIEVE IT? “Yes, of course we can believe it. We have been working on this Semper Fi Fund USA Christmas light display for what feels like years. I can’t believe it isn’t summer again already, to be honest. What day is it? DECEMBER 12TH? ” -Everyone who took part in creating this USA Christmas lights display. While it certainly offers an interesting contrast to last week’s Slayer Christmas light display, I think we can all agree that each of them offers its own sort of patriotism and holiday joy.
