Mad Men‘s fifth season is almost here, thank goodness, after a wait that has felt like DECADES. Actually I’m lying about what it felt like because I’ve only recently gotten caught up on the last season of Mad Men, so it hasn’t really felt very long to me. And you know, even THAT was a lie because I still have two episodes left. I just cannot stop lying! I’m a real MAN, right? Like from the show? Just a bunch of terrible liars. Anyway, please, let’s get on with it! Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner recently talked with Grantland about the fifth season, and about how he sees the show eventually ending. Oh perfect, FINALLY we get some answers! About the ending of a show! That will happen in a few years! And if you’re thinking, “Hey, there’s no way he’s actually just going to straight-up tell them how he plans for the show to end because who would ever want to know about how a show they really like is going to end, this is probably safe to read,” well, STOP THINKING THAT! He straight-up tells them, pretty much! Here is a non-spoiler version, from Grantland:

When asked if he had an end point in mind for Mad Men‘s seventh and final season, Weiner answered in the affirmative: “I do know how the whole show ends,” he told us. “It came to me in the middle of last season. I always felt like it would be the experience of human life. And human life has a destination. It doesn’t mean Don’s gonna die. What I’m looking for, and how I hope to end the show, is like …

AHHHH, STOP! I can’t believe you were just going to tell us like that! I can’t believe you DID just tell us in the article that we all would have seen it if I hadn’t stopped copying-and-pasting when I did!!! Matthew! So for those of you who are itching to get a peak at the ending of Mad Men, you should have at it. For the rest of us, would you like to discuss some ways that Mad Men is definitely NOT going to end? Just to get this horrible spoiler taste out of our mouths? Great, me too!

Charlie Kaufman is a notorious weirdo. (“Charlie Kaufman is a great screenwriter who’s worked hard to create his own universe of alternate realities.” – Gabe Delahaye, Videogum. ”Charlie Kaufman is a notorious weirdo.” – Kelly Conaboy, Videogum.) I like some of his movies and I don’t like others of his movies, but I do know that they’re always complex and weird and, sheesh, listen, what I’m trying to say is ARE WE IN THE NEXT CHARLIE KAUFMAN MOVIE, FRANK OR FRANCIS, RIGHT NOW?

Over the weekend, Charlie Kaufmen has been going to pretty much every major news organization (Variety, The Playlist, Time Out London — you know, the big three) telling them pretty much every single thing about his upcoming Internet Movie Blogger movie. Wall-to-wall spoilers. Here’s a vague non-spoiler, from Time Out London:

In the broadest possible sense, it’s about online film criticism, but as usual, the world that I’m writing about is not necessarily the world that I’m writing about. It’s just a place to set it. There’s a lot in there about the internet and anger: cultural, societal and individual anger.

Sooo, feel free to click on those links up there if you want to know everything about this movie that I guess stars Jack Black as an angry internet commenter. But what I want to suggest is:

EXTRA SPECIAL GUEST EDITOR’S NOTE: I’m still having trouble with my pictures but I am not going to let a little thing like vanity keep me from posting hard-hitting content, so get started and I’ll fix the picture when I figure it out.

So, how about that TV last night, Monsters? I didn’t get to watch, but Twitter seemed to have enjoyed all the episodes. Lots of stuff happened, I guess! Why don’t you all discuss those happenings in the comments, eh? I saw a lot of calls for .gifs of Parks and Rec on Twitter, too. Post those, why dontcha?

Also, during this week of season finales and surprise endings, I have a question for discussion, guys. Do you feel like there’s a statute of limitation on spoilers? Would my upset be justified if someone ruined, say, a climactic twist in The Wire for me? What about a cliff hanger for a season finale episode of a show, a week later?

If there is a statute of limitations, is that effected by how pervasive the specific film, book or show is? I’m talking Harry Potter spoilers versus last episode of Battlestar Galactica spoilers. Do they get different statutes of limitations, because of their different levels of cultural saturation?

I’m of two minds on the topic, and I’d be interested to here what you guys have to say about it. Do we all need to preserve a zone of silence forever? Or can we start to finally openly discuss the fact that in season 5 of The Wire Stringer Bell is revealed to be a robot from Mars? (Oops, spoiler alert.) Please, let’s discuss this issue like a family. Perhaps there is a time when you had something spoiled for you.

Thanks to Chris Trash for his help with getting grandma her screen grab and special note to Baby Friday that this is in no way a dig at you for last night’s accidental Bones spoiler. The entire internet spoiled that one. <3 U, GURL.

Here is a two-minute preview clip from this week’s episode of Return To Lost Island:

You know, for a show that is as good as this show is right now, which is very good, they could have some better preview clips. Remember in the heated anticipation leading up to the new season when they leaked that clip of the lawyer coming to Kate’s house and demanding a DNA test? That was the biggest snooze ever. WHAT’S IN THE BRIEFCASE?! This was admittedly a little better because it’s got the smoke monster in it, but still. Am I supposed to be on the edge of my seat wondering what’s going to happen to the random French guy who just appeared at the end of the last episode and who I have absolutely no emotional or even narrative-interest attachment to? Huh, Lindelof? Because I am not. I am sitting well-balanced in the middle of my seat. I’m sitting very comfortably and unprecariously in my seat with no danger of falling off whatsoever.

Oh well. Smoke monster this week, you guys. Love that guy.

Oooooh. But I think this whole Jim and Pam thing has been a red herring. It’s been moving along too smoothly with basically no obstacles. And as you know, the fundamental aspect of every romantic comedy is that the happy couple must be separated, usually for the duration of a storyline, only to be reunited at the end. Moreover, the fact that Jim started in with all this marriage nonsense right when the other major plotline concerned Michael and Jan’s break up makes me think we’re heading for a last minute reversal. And at the end of the dinner party episode, Jan was gluing the Dundie back together, hinting at a possible reconciliation, or reparation of the couple.

I’d also like to be a pussy about the whole thing and not put my money on the table and hedge my bets by pointing out that maybe the show’s writers anticipate that such a plot twist would be super obvious, and are going to go the Edgar Allen Poe’s detective C. Auguste Dupin “hidden in plain sight” route and have Jim and Pam cruise right through to the altar. I KNOW ALL THE TRICKS. There are only two tricks.*

*If Ryan and Kelly get engaged, there are three tricks.
