After pulling their “crazy-homophobic” violence-against-speedwalkers ad last summer, Snickers and Mr. T are back with a brand-new addition to the “Get Some Nuts!” campaign. It’s weird!:

Wow, those Snickers people are just bound and determined to keep the “If Mr. T perceives you to be a wuss of some kind, he will show up in a helicopter and shoot our product at you until you are very scared and confused.” thing. Like, some Don Draper-wannabe at the ad agency is all “I don’t care if we had to pull that ad last summer, “Get Some Nuts,” with its double-meaning, is advertising gold.” That guy probably thinks that men everywhere are going to wonder if not eating a daily Snickers makes them less of a man. Notice that they gave the guy a GIRLFRIEND this time, so see, he is definitely NOT GAY. He just doesn’t want to be in a cold pool, so now he has to be in a cold pool with hundreds of floating chocolate bars. Yummm, Snickers! (Thanks for the tip, Alex!)

SnickersGate: Mr. T Pities Himself

Now that the offensive Snickers ad in which Mr. T shoots an alleged gay with a gatling gun from the back of a pickup truck has been pulled from circulation, it’s time for the former wrestler, member of the A-Team, and breakfast cereal mogul to clear his good name of these homophobia charges. By reading a letter on the O’Reilly Factor (via Defamer).

I love that the letter is addressed to Bill throughout. In case you thought he was using the show as a platform to spread the message of his letter to anyone who was concerned or upset by the advertisement, no. The letter is for Bill, and for Bill only. I also love that his defense against charges of homophobia is a litany of examples of things that people didn’t complain about in 1985. Because 1985 was an era of incredible tolerance towards the homosexual community, especially among Wrestlemania and A-Team fans. Although the argument that speed walking is an Olympic sport is pretty solid. It totally explains why you should shoot a speedwalker with a candy gatling gun and tell him that he’s “a disgrace to the man race”. Because of the Olympics. What?

Snickers, of course, got in some trouble a couple of weeks ago when they made an ad depicting Mr. T shooting an alleged homosexual with a candy gatling gun and telling him to be a man. Snickers pulled the ad, deciding that perhaps aligning your product with homophobic candy assault is crazy stupid. (Not to mention weird. What’s the demographic they’re appealing to? Dudes who hate gays so much, but love a delicious combination of caramel and chocolate?) So it’s kind of funny that this video was put online back in February. It’s like somehow the guy who made it just knew that Snickers was an asshole.

Snickers Satisfies Hunger For Confusing Bigotry

This is an ad for Snickers (via Gawker). We’ll talk about it in a second.

Bzzzzzzzzt. Something in my brain just exploded. Exploded to the MAX. On the face of it, this ad is crazy homophobic, but then the tagline is “Get Some Nuts.” Ay ay ay. Is that even a thing? Is speed walking a homophobe thing? “Those fags are always speed walking. Demanding equal rights and speed walking, I’m sick of it!”

Since the PC POLICE (aka human beings) have forced Mars to remove the ad from circulation, I’ve taken the liberty of making my own Snickers commercial after the jump. It doesn’t have quite the same “hate crime” urgency to it, but I think it gets the point across.
