Announcing The Starting Line-Up For Puppy Bowl VIII!

There are few dramatic contests more wrought with emotional weight and power than the Annual Puppy Bowl. It is the eternal struggle between light and dark, life and death, napping and pooping. Each year a new crop of noble warriors takes the gridiron for a rousing spectacle of incredible athleticism and adorablism. We old dogs will watch from the sidelines, captivated by the proverbial WAR taking place on our screens, entering into the rush and flow of the age old tradition that is sport and competition, redefined by it, drawn into relief by it, just as our ancestors were. JUST KIDDING. None of that stuff even makes SENSE. It’s the PUPPY BOWL! It’s time 2 watch some WONDERFUL PUPPIES! This year’s crop looks particularly CUTE. There is a dog named FUMBLE! Although I have a feeling that Eurika and Brandy are going to be going head-to-TAIL for the title of Most Valuable Puppy. LET’S GET READY TO PUPPIEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

Ke$ha’s Humane Society PSA

You can’t really criticize people for trying to make the world a better place, even when that person is Ke$ha. So first and foremost let’s just point out that it’s nice of Ke$ha to make a PSA for the Humane Society and let’s all hope that the puppies have a good Christmas this year, or whatever. We can, however, criticize Ke$ha for, you know, being Ke$ha, and for the fact that she’s only trying to make the world a better place insofar as she sat in her dressing room at Madison Square Garden or whatever and read about the Humane Society from a cue card with the same tone she probably uses to half-heartedly apologize to her parents for using up all the rollover minutes on her phone and racking up 300$ a month in SEXTING charges. (Her parents, I assume, are still managing her phone bill on some kind of Cingular Wireless Family Plan.) Also, if you ARE going to try and make the world a better place but you AREN’T going to bother leaving your dressing room, just pick a charity that’s in your general area. There are plenty. Why is she trying to save Guatemalan dogs from the Pontiac Silver Dome? There is something so jarring about the b-roll footage of third world country people actually physically trying to save animals intercut with Ke$ha unmoving in front of her rack of wardrobe changes saying “Please join me in helping these poor animals.” Join you where? WHAT ARENA ARE YOU AT? And join you how exactly? BY READING CUE CARDS AND LOOKING LIKE LAST NIGHT WAS A ROUGH NIGHT? But like I said, so good of her. Such a powerful PSA. Good luck, puppies.

Terrifying Man Is Terrified Of Puppies

Hey, we all have our bugaboos. We’ve already been over this. Some people are scared of open spaces and some people are scared of closed spaces. It’s fine. At the end of the day, we’re all just trying to make it through the day without crying. Unfortunately, some of us make the choice to go on reality TV shows where they make us confront our fear directly, at which point crying is kind of inevitable, and if you don’t cry, the producers probably rub sand in your eyes or something. They’ll get the shot they need, don’t you even worry about it. Case in point: this dude named Marvin who is covered in FACE TATTOOS and looks like an ACTUAL MONSTER but whose biggest fear is ADORABLE PUPPIES. This whole clip is just golden (retriever) (BOOM!) (GOODNIGHT!).

The Petting Zoo: The Week’s Top 10 Animal Videos

FINALLY! Finally it is Wednesday and we get to discuss all of the incredible animal videos that we’ve been enjoying quietly all week since last Wednesday. The dog climbing the tree? The meowing baby cheeta? THE BEAR CUBS? Don’t even get me started. Yet. Get me started in about thirty seconds. We had a lot of serious contenders this week, as we do every week and will every week for the rest of our lives until the internet is finally thrown into space. No end to the great animal videos in here. But the big question that everyone is asking and has been asking since last Wednesday is: WHERE DO THEY PLACE IN VIDEOGUM’S TOP TEN LIST? Very serious and very mathematical. Can the business man and woman from the accounting firm bring in the briefcases now? Perfect, thank you. Now let’s see how all of our animal friends fared.

The Petting Zoo: Deep Thoughts About Elephants And The World, Also Puppies

The frustrating thing about elephants is that whenever you see them you just want to hug them and have their whole elephant body in the hug, but you’ll never be able to do that unless you get them pretty much right when they’re born. Right? And you’re probably never going to be able to get them right when they’re born, unless you’re an elephant breeder or you work with elephants some other way or you’re a zoologist or something, or you ARE an elephant, and none of us are that I don’t think, so basically we’re completely out of luck. We just have to watch videos of baby elephants crawling all over their mother elephants and dream of another life in which we studied elephants all throughout college and then in school after college, whatever school we needed to go to, and then we were in a position where we had to take care of a lot of baby elephants because there were too many of them somehow? So our apartments were just crawling with the tiniest baby elephants, because there was no room at the zoo. And they slept in our beds. And it was a perfect world. And you never felt lonely or unhappy, because of the elephants. Let’s watch more animal videos now, I’m already VERY depressed. (Via VVV.)

The first in a series of TWO animal-in-a-car videos, here is a video of a dog with its arm out the window, like a human would have its arm. Although this is a great video because of how CHILL the dog is, I have to say that I really do not like it when I see dogs in windows of cars like this because I am always 100% sure that they are seconds away from jumping out of the car window and causing their own and my own death, when I swerve to miss them and then end up hitting them anyway. Boooo dogs in cars hanging out of windows. I know it’s their “thing” — dogs’ — but boooooooo!!! It makes me nervous booooooo!!! Let’s look at more videos now yaaaayyy!! (Via VVV.)

Do you guys remember the first time you ate a cucumber? I remember the first time I ate one, it was during the summer of 2007. I haven’t eaten them that often since because I don’t like the texture very much, which I think is reasonable. But man. This dog, right? What a cute dog. Oh great, it’s time for the GIFs! This week was a very special week because on Wednesday it was Videogum’s own Gabriel Delahaye™’s 100th birthday. And we’re STILL celebrating, because you only turn every age once and every age is a very special age and I found this great “Happy Birthday Gabriel” GIF. One thing I like to do on my birthday is make everyone I’m eating my birthday dinner with go around the table and say something they really like about me, or one of the funniest jokes I’ve ever told them. We can do that here for Gabe, if anyone would like to. I’ll start it off: One thing I really like about Gabe is how he knows how to punctuate decades, for example he has never written 80′s instead of ’80s. Happy Birthday, Gabe!
