As you know, I happen to be in LA today, and what that means is that I am now VERY into development news and behind the scenes information. Big time. It’s my people now. I’m like a little Ari Gold out here (Ari Gold’s face is constantly covered in taco sauces, right?) LLOYD! GET ME GOLF SHOES ON THE PHONE! Just kidding, I’m more of an E, you know? Like, I straddle the line between being a Suit and being a Pizza Boy from Queens. (E is constantly driven around by his friend in his friend’s Ford Focus because he isn’t renting a car until next week, right?) ANYWAY, now that I have traded the New York Times for Variety, I know about stuff like this (from Deadline Hollywood, thanks for the tip, Nikki Finke!):

Comedy Central has put in development Evil Genius, a high-concept scripted comedy starring actor-comedian Paul F. Tompkins. The show, which Tompkins will write with Tom Scharpling (Monk), stars Tompkins as Professor Tiberius Lynch, an evil genius who has successfully taken over the world, achieving global domination. The only problem is — what should he do next? Being a genius doesn’t make it easier to navigate the everyday situations of office life, especially when that office is responsible for running absolutely everything on Earth. Lynch must contend with the quirks and foibles of his cohorts as well as the demands of the entire population of the planet, trying to pull off the ultimate balancing act.

OK, I was just kidding about all that showbiz talk. I hate that stuff, man! But you have to admit that this is still very nice news. Those two guys are so funny! We love new TV shows that sound good! Isn’t that right, Turtle? TURTLE! WHERE IS THAT ADJUSTMENT BUREAU HAT I GAVE YOU?!

There are times in life when you stop and wonder at how you got here, marveling at the divergent paths and choices made along the way. Had you not missed the train, you might now be living in England, with brown hair, dating John Hannah. Instead, you have somehow become the Internet’s foremost watchdog for pop-cultural parodies of Juggalo culture. Such is life. You can spend the rest of your days wondering how you got here and wishing that maybe things had turned out differently, but it won’t make a lick of difference, and you better not let it get in the way of doing your duty and letting people know when a new Juggalo parody happens. The point is: on last night’s episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Master Shake threw a piece of cement off of an overpass, killing Paul F. Tompkins. Then he was haunted and taunted (HAUNTED AND TAUNTED!) by a Paul F. Tompkins angel, who forced him to become nicer, and do good deeds, to make up for his wayward past. In order to end his suffering and escape the wrath of the Paul F. Tompkins angel, Shake became a Juggalo. OBVIOUSLY:

Oh no! Vulture is reporting that Best Week Ever may be going off the air forever!

We hear from a source close to the production of Best Week Ever, which just went on summer hiatus, that the show’s future is in jeopardy. It will be off the air until 2010, which some employees are considering effectively the same as a cancellation, since Best Week Ever normally breaks for weeks at a time, not months. In fact, we’re told that recent New York City transplant Paul F. Tompkins is considering moving back to Los Angeles. When reached for comment, a spokesperson told us that “VH1′s Best Week Ever has actually gone on its scheduled production hiatus and will return in January 2010. Its companion piece Best Day Ever, which spoofs that day’s pop-culture news, will return this fall.” No reason was given for the extended time away, but apparently staffers were hopeful that the full 30-minute version would be back this fall.

We have heard similar things! From sources and stuff. Journalism!

Admittedly, I think I’m the only person I know who watches this show, but that’s just because I don’t have very many friends (boo hoo, just kidding, I have so many friends. They’re mostly Canadian, that’s why you don’t know them. Don’t worry about it) and the friends I do have make terrible decisions on a regular basis. The show can be hit or miss and they should have dumped the Sizzler when they changed formats, but Paul F. Tompkins is TBS Very Funny. And Best Week Ever has been a VH1 flagship for years! What will be the tentpole around which the network is built now? Tool Academy Season 2? Some Tertiary Whore From One Of Our Other Shows From Eight Months Ago Of Love? For better or for worse, the Best Week Ever franchise provided a momentary reprieve from the relentless episodes of Body Shot House, or whatever.

Besides, Paul F. Tompkins is so great. He should have so many shows. Here he is some more:
