New York magazine’s Vulture blog has a cute little story today about the time that Hugh Jackman and Baz Luhrman sang karaoke with Robert Pattinson in Japan. It is all very typical and exactly what you would expect from a quaint anecdote about singing karaoke with nothing super weird and completely unexpected thrown in there that you definitely didn’t see coming and are not clear on why everyone else is acting like it’s the normal way that things work. If anything it sounds like the evening was TOO normal.

Once upon a time in 2009, on a fateful flight to Japan, Hugh Jackman noticed that he was on the plane with mussed-head Twilight star Robert Pattinson. “I didn’t talk to him at all on the flight, because he’s this really tall guy with a hood over his head literally, and every time I’d go to the bathroom, I’d be like, ‘Man, that guy takes some serious sleeping pills,’ because this was him [slumps over] the whole time,” Jackman recalls to MTV. But when the plane landed and Pattinson struck up a conversation with Jackman and Baz Luhrmann, the two Aussies decided to invite him to a karaoke bar.

Lauren, who sent this in as a tip, suggested that when Lexy and Stephany are a little bit older, someone in college will eventually find this video and that neither of them would ever “live it down.” Uh, live what down? Being THE BEST?! Let me say this to any future college students who might tease Lexy or Stephany: when you graduate from school, no one is going to give a shit about what you want or who you think you are or any of the other ways in which you have been led to believe that you are a special snowflake. It’s going to take years and years of mildly mind-numbing work in terrible jobs while living in disappointing apartments with other malformed 20-somethings who also aren’t real human beings yet and who do nothing but constantly surprise you with the ways in which they can be selfish and stupid and depressing to the point where it’s almost a decade into your friendship and you realize you don’t actually have that much in common with them other than some shared youthful experience that ended forever ago and now you kind of wish you had new friends who share your ambitions and life-goals that, surprisingly, you are only JUST NOW getting a real handle on and oh wow guess what, you are also old. So giggle it up in your dorm cafeteria, chuckleheads. Lexy and Stephany are going to BURY YOU and sing AVE MARIA over your STUPID CORPSE. (Thanks for the tip, Lauren.)

Thursday, January 27th, Ends With Kidz Bop Covering Usher

Hey, that’s just how it goes sometimes. Some days don’t end with Kidz Bop covering Usher, but some days–and this day in particular–definitely do.

The DJ at my old bowling alley was named DJ Romeo, so I really relate to this song. I particularly like when the kidz sing (or do they bop?) “dance like it’s the last night of your life.” Haha. You’re all nine-years-old. What do you know of mortality? What do you know of love for that matter? Ah well. Goodnight, children. I hope you live to see tomorrow.
