At a Swell Season performance a couple of nights ago (Swell Season is Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, the people who won the Academy Award for Once, beating out August Rush somehow, so you know they’re good [ZING for no swell reason]) Jason Segal took the stage. I guess they are all friends? Anyway, Jason Segel sat behind the piano, and after some light banter in which he explained that he’d asked Glen and Marketa for songwriting advice and that they had said to include lots of “personal details,” Segel performed a very “personal song” with backing from the band. Some might say TOO personal!

lindsay: Well for one thing, it should be something that is actually WTF. Like, Amy Poehler peeing in the sink in Baby Mama? She had to, there was a child lock on the toilet!

One of the great lines in Forgetting Sarah Marshall was when Jason Segel was talking on the beach with Kemo and he asked how Kemo knew he’d been dumped by Sarah Marshall and Kemo said:

“I heard about it from everybody. You gotta stop talking about it. It’s like “the Sopranos.” It’s OVER. Find a new show.”

It’s funny because you think he’s going to say something about snitching, and then he points out the very true thing about how none of us are over that show. Best! ANYway, HBO has made a deal with an Italian wine distributor to make Sopranos-brand wine, which is not lame and too late, it’s awesome like a finely-aged wine. I watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall again last night (best) and I’m still on the fence about Russell Brand. On the one hand, the VMAs happened. On the other, the guy does clearly have comedic talent, as evidenced by his performance as Aldous Snow in FSM. Apatow Puts Together A Team For “A Dirty Version Of Almost Famous“

Fresh off the semi-success of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, producer Judd Apatow has announced that two of its stars, Jonah Hill and Russell Brand, will star in Get Him To The Greek, a buddy-comedy to be written and directed by Marshall director Nick Stoller. Variety reports:

[Greek] centers on a fresh-out-of-college insurance adjuster (Hill) who is hired to accompany an out-of-control rock star (Brand) from London to a gig at L.A.’s Greek Theater.

Apparently, Hill and Brand had such great chemistry during the filming of Marshall that a movie idea was born. Brand was hilarious as a promiscuous British pop star in Marshall, but who are we kidding, I’ll get behind any movie “the guys” bring us. Suggestion: have the two play the same characters and call it a sequel, that way all of the STD jokes about Brand’s character can be considered “references” to the ones in Marshall. Because that guy was made for STD jokes.
