Uh oh. Two of the contestants from From G’s to Gents have been arrested. From TMZ:

Shane Coyle was arrested yesterday in Lee County, Fla. for violating the terms of a probation issued in 2007 — the year he was busted for drugs AND a robbery. Coyle was supposed to stay within a court-ordered maximum radius — think dog on a chain — but was picked up on an October 28 warrant for allegedly overstepping his boundaries.

Markice “Kesan” Moore — the lesser of two evils — was popped on November 3 in Cobb County, Ga. for an improper lane change and driving without a license.

Kesan was released on bond by the (get this!) “Bond James Bond Co.” Cee will stay in the pokey until his November 24 date with a judge.

That just goes to show, it’s like they always say, you can take the G out of the hood, but you can’t take the G to the business meeting with your “Japanese associates” because he will embarrass you and be up for elimination at that week’s “Club Meeting” and it won’t matter whether or not he remembers the rules to Cricket or which one is his bruschetta fork, and later something something boom boom you’re a goon, go to jail. REAL TALK.

As the season finale of From G’s to Gents opens, Cee is picking a fight with Creepa and Shotta because they both voted for him in last week’s elimination ceremony. Both Creepa and Shotta try to talk to Cee, but he tells them to just leave him alone and that he’s in this for himself now. Wasn’t everyone in it for themselves the whole time? Isn’t the definition of reality TV that everyone is in it for themselves always. Is it possible to go on a reality TV show to be in it for other people? Even the contestants on Oprah’s Big Give were in it for themselves, and despite this show’s better nature, it is no Oprah’s Big Give. What I’m saying is shut up, Cee. Creepa even tells Cee that the only reason he voted for him was because he thought that Cee had a lot to go home to, to which Cee petulantly screams “No, I don’t, I don’t have anything to go home to.” SPOILER ALERT: that will prove too bad for Cee halfway through the episode.

T Jones was a competitor without guile. He might not have been a G exactly, but he definitely had his eyes set on Gent. Also he was so lovable! (Nullus!) But we have to carry on without him, and this week a new champion entered the Gentleman’s Coliseum and laid waste to his competition. I’m talking, of course, about Creepa. Man, Creepa, you guys! He’s been the show’s dark horse (yikes, careful!) from the beginning, but last night he was out of control with the sympathy and the pathos. Team Creepa! Sorry, T Jones. But you know how it is. Ain’t no nostalgia in this shit here.

Now that From G’s to Gents has entered the final stretch, the producers are wedging in a lot of half-hearted wordplay, like, “now I’m a gentleman and all I need are those hundred g’s.” I get it. So, with all that money up in the air, Fonzworth Bentley needs to make sure these fresh gentlemen will use it wisely, which is why this week’s episode is all about financial management. And who better to give a presentation on financial management than … Master P? I guess it makes sense. The idea is that these guys will actually listen to Master P because he came from “the hood” and has become a successful entrepreneur. The main problem is that he became an entrepreneur by wisely investing the money he was making off of his music career, which was based on a fundamental talent that he had to offer the world. Being able to differentiate your salad fork from your dinner fork out on the cricket pitch isn’t going to provide you with any earning potential or seed capital. Anyway, Master P asks how many of them have bank accounts and only T-Jones raises his hand, so let’s just move on.

Last night’s From G’s to Gents provided us (Us? Is anyone else watching this? “Provided me,” let’s just say that.) with some of the most startling contrast to date between who is on the show for real and who is on the show for fake. Let me clarify. Everyone is on the show for fake. But some of the “G’s” are clearly “fronting” in order to appear as if they need “help.” Let me clarify. If the imaginary purpose of the show is to improve people’s lives through cultural education, then some of the people on the show at least represent the raw (thuggish) materials that would be changed by the honing and refining of learning how to play cricket and identifying a salad fork, while other people on the show are clearly putting on a performance of being “rawer” in order to be on TV/win $100,000. Mostly I’m just talking about Stan, I guess, who is King Clown of Clownistan, sitting on his rubber throne up in Joke Castle, handing out his royal decrees in disappearing ink. Contrast him with Creepa, who works harder to promote racial stereotypes than Under One Roof, but at the very least seems legit, at least insofar as I think the ridiculous persona that he presents on the show is the same ridiculous persona that he presents in real life.

VH1′s colonial-era show about civilizing thugs using the game of cricket continues to surprise. In last week’s episode, at the elimination ceremony, no one was eliminated. Even if the whole thing is bullshit (and the whole thing is bullshit), and the show’s producers don’t actually have the intention of helping anyone become a better person in the hopes of finding a better life for themselves, the show is mildly bucking reality TV trends to at least give the appearance of decency. It could be a mark of our cultural poverty that a race-baiting show pretending to be superficially good at heart stands as a shining light of decency on a dark sea of televized stripper farts, but we will take what we can get and we will like it.

This week was all about treating women right. The G’s are taken to a strip club and taught chivalry (“Being a Captain Kirk, in other words, right?” — Creepa), and that the first rule of treating a lady right is to not objectify them. Then they are asked to test out their new skills at a party for Dannity Kane? Like I said, it’s mildly bucking reality TV trends. Let’s not get crazy.

But the real drama of last night’s episode was the startling elimination of Kesan.

Something weird is happening on MTV’s most racist show, From G’s to Gents. People are acting like human beings. Despite producers best efforts to stick a bunch of dudes in a house, pump them full of malt liquor, and have their lives taped to find out what really happens when people stop being polite and start living out colonial nightmares, they’re acting like human beings trapped in a stereotype-propagating death trap. These savages should have torn each other apart like the violent subhuman creatures that they are by now, but for some strange reasons they’re taking on the fully developed character traits of self-worth, self-preservation, and honesty. Whuuuuut?

In last night’s episode, the house villain, Kesan, decided to leave the show because everyone had ganged up and plotted against him. He felt that it was a dangerous, unnatural environment. What, how so? What’s more natural than a reality TV show Mansion of Sadness with a fridge full of 40s, five person bedrooms, and studio lighting in the bathroom? Keesan even said to a fellow castmember “I’m not built for this,” and when the cast member continued to demand that they “talk things out,” Kesan told him that he was “frontin’ for the cameras” and that he should call him on his cellphone if he wanted to talk. Looks like someone still respects their right to privacy. Lame.

You guys, I saw this trailer for From G’s to Gents during the Real World last night. We’ve got to watch this. It’s like VH1′s Charm School, except it’s not former reality show contestants getting a makeover, it’s just straight up clowns and that guy who used to stand next to Puff Daddy.

I’m sure the mention of Jamie Foxx’s Academy Award is going to be a big draw for people. “Oh, I thought it looked like another trashy reality show filled with some of the most intense racism I’ve seen in awhile, but now that you mention that there’s an Academy Award showcased on the mantle of someone involved with the show, I will definitely watch.”

Fonzworth Bentley pimps the show (Get it? Kill me.) in the New York Post today, saying:

We found guys who want to make a change. That’s the key. To be a gentleman, you have to want to be a gentleman. One guy was addicted to drugs and has a 2-year-old daughter. One guy was homeless. One gentleman has been fired from every job for violence, either for hitting an employee or the boss.

Yup. Just dudes who want to make a change. And the always charitable work of Chris Abrego, a man who’s dedicated his life in the tradition of the selfless Dr. Drew Pinsky towards making sure people have the opportunity (opportunity means a bunkbed in a group bedroom in a fake mansion and tons of alcohol with producers encouraging extroverts with poor decision making skills to just be themselves) to make that change.
