As we know, Tom Cruise is in India where he is promoting The Most Impossible Mission Of Them All: The Ghost Mission. Yesterday, it was reported that he talked about how much he loved Bollywood movies to the point of lying and saying that he would never turn down a Bollywood movie if offered one. Sure, Tom Cruise. Today it is being reported that the screaming swarms of fans greeting him at the airport were actually PAID ACTORS (“junior artistes”). From FirstPost:

When the world’s biggest star and possibly the most famous Scientologist on earth, Tom Cruise, stepped out of the Mumbai domestic airport on Saturday with his entourage, little did he know that the screaming crowds he was waving out to were not his Indian fans at all!

In fact, the 200-and-odd people gathered there didn’t even know who he was and they couldn’t care less. They had been hired at the rate of Rs 150, or $3 per person approximately, by a model coordinator to do the same!

“Tom kaun? I don’t know who he is or what he does. We were told to come here by 1pm today and wait for a foreign VIP to come out of the airport gate and scream and shout when he came. None of us know who Tom is. There was a buffet lunch also for us and we were paid Rs 150 for this job today. We do this for television shows and other such events where crowds are required,” said one of the junior artistes at the airport, who was hired as an excited Tom fan.

This is, of course, to be taken with a grain of Kala Namak because it’s mostly being reported on small websites of questionable journalistic integrity, but either way, you have to admit that it is kind of hilarious. TOM KAUN? NEVER HEARD OF HIM! I’m also a very big fan of calling these people “junior artistes.” Because that’s clearly what they are. In any case, it’s just nice to see that no matter where they go in the world, a movie star’s life continues to be one that is real and relatable and makes sense and is a thing we can easily wrap our minds around because of how much sense it makes. Uh oh. She mad. She backtraced it, I’m sure, and now she is going to call the Internet Police! The truth of the matter is that this Internet stuff is driving us ALL crazy, and you guys should quit trolling her grandson and give him his account back. Come on, guys. Quit it. On a sidenote, do you know how bad I wish the Internet Police was a real thing? I feel like a lot of people who watch this video get to the part about Internet Police and think “hahaha,” but I get to that part and I think, “HOW IS THAT NOT A REAL THING WE NEED IT PUT THEM ALL IN JAIL!” Rango’s a sheriff, right? Get him.

So, earlier today I posted that video of the hilariously depressing marriage proposal that took place in a shopping mall food court. You remember? The video that was PERFECT?! Seriously, everything about that video is the best. From the part where he proposes to her in front of the Cinnabon where they met a year ago, to the part where the old man shouts “SAY YES!” before he’s even gotten his proposal out, to the part where he describes what he loves about her (“I love how you cut cupcakes into smaller cupcakes”?!), to the part with the singing, to the part where she runs away. BRAVA! Naturally, because this is the Internet, everyone’s first impulse is to wonder whether or not the video is even real. It’s probably fake, right? It’s got to be fake, guys, right? WELL, MAYBE IT DOES AND MAYBE IT DOES NOT BUT HERE IS ANOTHER MORE IMPORTANT QUESTION: WHY DOES IT MATTER? That question, which is asked about every single thing on the Internet*, is exhausting. And pointless. So, I hereby declare an end to “FAKE!”

Down The “After The Rapture Pet Care” Rabbit Hole We Go!

Obviously, any good Christian who is preparing for the Rapture has to wonder to him or herself, “yeah, it’s gonna be awesome, but what about my heathen pets?” Well, wonder no more. Now there is a service (that is almost certainly fake) to help you with just this problem! It is called After the Rapture Pet Care, because at times like these who can afford to waste time being clever?! Here is their introductory commercial:

Now, this has to be fake, not only because IT HAS TO BE, but also because of how hard the person who made it is insisting that it is real. (Although this PayPal page seems scarily legitimate.) But also: who cares! This is hilarious and amazing. It is the Die Antwoord of Post-Rapture Pet Care. Besides, when Jebus comes back to take 200 people to heaven or whatever, we’ll have plenty of time trapped on the burning hellscape of a foresaken Earth to argue over authenticity!

Just before lunch (Yum! Lunch!), we received the following email:

Just got word, after circulating the link around my music publicity office, that Die Antwoord is basically Da Ali G of South Africa. All fake, skewering the movement of middle class kids with apartheid supporting parents becoming Afrikaner posers, basically.

And then, just after lunch (Remember lunch?! The best!) we got another email from another tipster that included a bunch of links to previous videos (which you can see for yourself after the jump) from the Die Antwoord guys in which they appear to basically be the Williamsburgs of South Africa or whatever. So, as quickly as they came into our lives, Die Antwoord appear to be on their way out, due to their being fake.

Except a) who cares, and b) what fake?

World’s Greatest Freak Out Kids Are Taking It To The Next Level

Oh man. RAISIN’ THE STAKES! What is going to be next for these guys? “Did you think that the freakout videos might have hurt your chances in this year’s Presidental election?” “No, I mean, I just kind of feel like, you know, that people would make the right choice in the ballot box and they did. Now I am the President of the United States and stuff and, like, GOD DAMN IT NOW I AM HAVING A REAL FREAK OUT THAT IS NOT FAKE AT ALL.” Believable! Obviously, these can’t be fake, because…you couldn’t fake something in exactly the same way that many times in a row? Stephen may be the world’s greatest freakout kid*, but his brother is clearly the world’s greatest logic kid.

Oh, but SIDENOTE: you would think that with the millions of views on their videos and whatever company is sponsoring this viral marketing campaign for Diet Rage Drinks or whatever this is, that they could GET A BETTER CAMERA. These things always look like they were filmed on a walkie-talkie.
