There is no doubt in my mind that people growing up today are going to have a much different relationship with technology than people growing up when I grew up (two years ago) and people growing up with Gabe grew up (1950s). And when THEIR kids grow up they’ll probably be like, “I can’t believe you ever existed in a time when you couldn’t download knowledge directly into your brain. You’re telling me that you had to go to a place every day to LEARN it? What does that word even mean, LEARN? It must have been taken out of the iOED many years ago, mom, you are so stupid I don’t even believe you.” Because that’s how the world works. I bet when all the kids were using printing presses their parents were like, “Can you believe how quickly these kids picked up the printing press? I still prefer just making copies in writing. How can you trust the printing press? I barely trust the quill pens!” You know, HISTORY? You can’t teach an old human new technology faster than you can teach a new baby new technology, as the saying goes. But this video of a baby touching a magazine? Look at the YouTube description of it, first of all:

Technology codes our minds, changes our OS. Apple products have done this extensively. The video shows how magazines are now useless and impossible to understand, for digital natives. It shows real life clip of a 1-year old, growing among touch screens and print. And how the latter becomes irrelevant.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…
Read More...

This sort of feels like one of those videos where you watch it and send it to all of your parents and everyone on the internet thinks it’s so cute and then after a few days you see an update that says something like, “The cat let the baby put its tail in its mouth because the cat was given a strong dose of a paralytic drug that later played a main role in the cat’s untimely death.” And you think, Was it worth it? And then you think, I’ve kind of already forgotten about both the video and the update, please show me the next video. So, you know, whatever. C’est la vie. And actually it looks like the cat’s doing fine. The baby is certainly the one to be worried about in this video. It probably does this all the time and will probably grow up to have a weird thing about tails. Ooohh, tails. (via TheDailyWhat)

This video was on America’s Funniest Videos. It’s among the most popular YouTube videos of all time. You’ve probably already seen it. Nonetheless, no cute viral video so far more beautifully expresses the ups and downs of this election than the video known as “The Serious Baby”. Watch him again, for the first time:

It will also put you in a good mood, because it’s the most adorable baby ever in history. Everyone be safe tonight — remember, it’s all fun and drinking games until somebody goes to the hospital for alcohol poisoning from one too many “Yes, We Can” (or “My Friends”) tequila shots. And no matter what happens tonight, we’ll always have dumb internet videos. We’ll always have those. But here’s hoping we end the night on a laughing baby note, and don’t wake up giving the world the evil eye face.
