Here we are, everyone. The night of the 2012 Golden Globes, hosted by Ricky Gervais. OH, WHAT A NIGHT! Remember last year when the thought that Ricky Gervais was hosting the Golden Globes was actually an exciting thing that maybe could’ve made the event a whole lot more bearable? Weird! Now look where we are! What a difference a year makes, especially when you are a jerk who is constantly given platforms to never shut up about it. Oh well. We’re still going to enjoy our night, RIGHT?! Watching the Golden Globes together?! Something we and the Hollywood stars dream about all year long?! LIKE THE FAMILY WE ARE? YES! Since this was a short week, I’ve spend every day — which is almost not an exaggeration — thinking that it was an entirely different day. So you can imagine my surprise when I awoke this morning to find out that it was FRIDAY!!!! “GIFS! GIFS! GIFS! GIFS!” And that is meant to be read, no duh, like the Aresenio Hall Show “woof.” Not to get off on a tangent, but obviously TO get off on a tiny tangent, why is it so hard to find a YouTube video of the Arsenio Hall Show “woof”? If there are two things that I think should be ABUNDANT on YouTube they are clips of the Arsenio Hall Show “woof” and clips of “Nick Burns, Your Company’s Computer Guy,” and as far as I can tell there are 0 of either. What’s the deal with that? Life can be super weird sometimes. But you know what’s not weird and is actually perfect? GIFs! So please join me in celebrating the day — Friday — and the new year — 2012 — with some perfect GIFs of Gwyneth Paltrow, Kanye West, and probably a few other things. Seeing this still of Ashton Kutcher in the movie New Year’s Eve wearing his funky cool party glasses and standing in what I believe is supposed to be a New York City alleyway but as imagined by the guy who built the sets for the long-running sitcom Wings only serves to reaffirm my belief that spending New Year’s Eve as I did, going to a screening of this movie, was definitely the right choice, and I did a great job of kicking off the new year doing this thing that I definitely did for sure for real. But so, hey, does anyone have any New Year’s Resolutions? These can be silly jokes but they can also be real. You know that thing when you were in elementary school (just kidding, I know that at least 70 percent of you are still in elementary school) where you’d think you were the only one who was wondering about a particular question but then you would ask it and it would turn out that everyone was wondering the same thing? And you were a hero for helping everyone get so smart? Well, maybe what you think is just a private, tiny resolution to achieve better self-actualization is actually something that could help and inspire your fellow Videogum monsters! Why not share it? Or just some joke like “fart more.” Either way.

A good resolution is more than enough reward. But the highest rated comment will get special placement in the first Monsters’ Ball of 2012.

Behind all the glitz and the glamour of blogging is news. Yes, we blog from solid gold, heart-shaped jacuzzis in castles made of cocaine and cashmere, but we are blogging about actual THINGS that are happening in the world, to real people. Are they people we know, or even like? Not usually. But they are real, and things definitely seem to be happening to them, so we have to tell you those stories.

Unfortunately, not all stories can be triumphs of the human body like the Steven Tyler story. Sometimes the news is about human suffering. While these stories aren’t (5) fist-pumpers (Gross, Kira. Sorry), they are real life, and they remind us about the darker side of the world around us. This is a very important story that I have been following super closely all week.

Duh Aficionado Magazine: Donald Trump Will Never Be President

On last night’s episode of Watch What Piers Morgans Live!, Donald Trump announced that he is thinking…about…running…for…PRESIDENT! Like, yeah, president president. That president! LOL? This guy knows what he’s talking about. Of course, in the midst of his IMPORTANT announcement (which you can watch after the jump) he makes a number of references to his hit reality TV show, Celebrity Apprentice. Very presidential! TOO presidential? (Also, I did not realize that Piers Morgan was on that show, which is a little bit weird just in the sense that now we are supposed to take him seriously? As a “news” thing? Ha!) But easily the most hilarious part is when SPOILER ALERT Piers Morgan agrees that he should run!!! AY-AY-AY! Good interview. Very hard hitting. I am pretty sure the new definition of a “softball question” isn’t a question at all, but is actually Piers Morgan agreeing with Donald Trump that he should probably be President (because China makes a lot of duvets?). Look it up!
