is it racist to think that Rock of Ages looks better? it totally is, isn’t it.
because RoA looks way worse and silly and is all white people (for no reason, whereas Sparkle is an all black cast for a specific reason)? but RoA knows it is ridiculous and and Sparkles does not and that’s the main factor for any musical. (I like musicals! but they are ridiculous no matter what! and technically Sparkle is not a musical but close enough! Whitney Houston!)!

Long time this thread reader, first time this thread comment:

Doug Loves Movies came to Vancouver and on the back of my nametag (which was not chosen boo) I wrote Brett Ratner is a shit head.

Thanks for having me on the air!

1) Using gatekeeping when he means (?) curating or investigating.
2) People are always forgetting that media is actually not open to anyone – just anyone who lives in a country/area with easily accessible up to date computers littered about. Poor African kids and the downtown east side of Vancouver (where I live close to which is the poorest area in Canada) are crying: “the fuck?!”
3) What?

First of all, Hysteria – I will rent/netflix the SHIT out of that. Seriously. Twice maybe, who’s to tell?

Second of all, as a non-regular commenter and regular reader, I’m disappointed that no one has made a gif where Mila Jonavich cannot recognize FaceTaco.

Never forget…how funny 9/11 vagina crossover jokes can be.

Why is there a trailer for Main Street? This is a movie I have seen, it came out in 2010. It was meh. I liked Joan of Arcadia in it.

Is this the thing where they repackage a movie that didn’t do as big as they’d like as a new movie? And there are human parking cones?

Also, why does the Groundbreaking Indian Hammerhead movie (which is the Mighty Ducks and why can’t all races and nationalities have a Mighty Ducks that is in the Canadian constitution) end in rap?

I’ve never seen The Thing and I think this looks like a terrible remake. Is that wrong?

Oh look there is a dog here. I’ll just bring it in.

Gabe is as correct about John Carter’s outfit as he is correct about GQ photoshoots.
(That is to say, very very very.)(That is to say, it’s totally okay to be terrible about and to people if the people involved are pretty on the eyes.)

Great, now I’m late for work.

+2Posted on Apr 29th, 2011 | re: The Bully Project Trailer, You Guys (169 comments)

Let me preface this, seriousgum, that bullying is a huge problem. The reason that people want to call it a crisis is because they are just noticing it (or caring) and want to feel better about themselves (not these filmakers, rather, media etc. who have already dubbed it a crisis long before this film came along).

Obviously it’s been heightened and changed by technology, as have most things (remember when Videogum was on stone tablets, guys?) – but I think that for a long time the suck it up, be a man mentality (or ladies do this or that mentality) was a cover for all this carnage. So I’m glad people are taking a look, and I am not dismissing the problem – but don’t let people get away with the excuse that it’s suddenly gotten worse.

Do you guys think she’ll hook up with the friend across the hall? Seems far fetched…

New rule: M. Night Shyamalan will only be referenced as M. Night Shyamalan (“Airbender”) or M. Night Shyamalan (“Some Okay Movies”, “Mostly Quite Bad Movies”). M. Night “Not at all like Alfred Hitchcock” Shyamalan and M. Night “Stephen King thinks he picks bad subjects for thrillers’ Shyamalan are also acceptable.

As with footie pajamas, we all grow out of Garden State. (Note: it is acceptable to not grow out of footie pajamas. Not true with Garden State.)

+11Posted on Mar 21st, 2011 | re: The Hunt For The Worst Movie Of All Time: Garden State (269 comments)

This movie is one of those movies I like at the level of admitting that I enjoyed it but also understood why it is bad (did Gabe mention how I bet lots of people think they can get away with movies like this because of this movie? As in, if you hate happythanksmorewhitepeopleplease, then it is this movie’s fault. Definitely.) And I would NEVER defend this movie. To the person who does not like this movie I would say: “Okay.”

But the soundtrack IS a soundtrack and the DVD I received as a stocking stuffer is open (unlike the Crash DVD I received).

PS. Mom stop giving me DVDs for Christmas.

Seriousgum: I have watched some, and while fascinating, it is so painful. Reminds me too much of the family members of mine that have been addicts, but moreso ARE STILL ON hard core drugs. The only difference is that CS has money. Otherwise he’d be hanging out toothless with my aunt.

I GOT THE IN JOKE.

All I’m saying is that, though I may not be such an avid monster as many of the monsters, but I love Videogum and I got the in joke and I have a beer. Friday. what.
