Find Me On:
Thank you Kelly, Gabe, and Monsters! This place really was the best trampoline blog out there.
I stopped into Starbucks on my 6-hour drive home just to check out this post (and get an iced tea, okay) and I wanted to say thanks for all of your curmudgeonly and non-curmudgeonly writing. Some of my favorite posts were the ones where you were super sincere or wrote about important political issues.
I moved to a country far far away 3 summers ago, and it was a really lonely time where I couldn’t speak the language and knew just about no one when I found this blog. Even though I rarely commented, it felt kind of like I’d found some friends here and had my favorite pop culture conversations, so I really appreciated your voice then. This week, I emailed you a question that was pretty dumb but important to me and you sent me the nicest reply, so thank you Gabe! Good luck and keep in touch with us here! Also, here’s a card?
It’s night time here, but I was rudely interrupted while making myself a sauteed onion and pierogi grilled cheese sandwich and didn’t get to eat that for dinner. Tomorrow!
OH no, but maybe I should say it is. It’s from the cat from 101 Dalmatians but also from when I was a dork in high school and made silent movies with my friends featuring a bumbling detective named sgt. tibbs. highschoolvideogum!
That sounds awesome and I would like to copy your style, however..do you have to sit in the bathroom while reading the rest of your Babar book now?
Oh guys, see what happens when you post and then go to sleep. I’m still in India, but I should be home this summer!
I’m glad you won, Goose! You were killing it this week and I laughed very hard at your coldplay clever girl picture and your pizza comic…that is how I respond with most of my food.
Also, hi everyone! I’m an infrequent commenter but I think that’ll be changing soon once I get back to a normal time zone. You guys have been keeping me sane when I was all alone in a new country for two years. Thanks!!
I just watched Brave, and while it was not the best and I honestly don’t remember much about it, I think it did a pretty good job of discussing the political powers of the royal families. The queen kept pressuring her daughter to pick a guy to calm all the factions, which I’ve never seen in a Disney movie.
But, will kids get the difference between that plot and any of the love-story based princess movies?
Normally, I gloss over the sports discussions, but I’m really enjoying this edition of sportsgum.
Yes! But even better (nope), my family owns a farm in India and we used to have a whole room for drying chili peppers. I found this room as a kid and thought, “yeah, this is a good playground” and spent the morning rolling in piles of dried peppers. I regretted it.
puppies or seal pups?
This is basically like the yelling goats video from last week with a new visual.
and kate beaton!
Have you made your way through the WMOAT archive on the right side? I also really like the Smithsonian Mag for weird history: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/
This one’s really good! http://blogs.smithsonianmag.com/history/2012/12/the-children-who-went-up-in-smoke/
