Is this supposed to be GOOD movies…or movies that were a huge part of culture? Because if its the latter then Titanic and Blazing Saddles absolutely belong on the list. As would a bunch of other shitty movies like Austin Powers and Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

So…….. this will set a record for number of comments.

Is that the order you are doing them in as well???? I ask because i have actually seen the first 4 but none of the others. Anxiously awaiting butterfly effect.

The thing that is always kinda forgotten is that the news media are people. Individual people. While it sounds nice to say that the media should all be principled and expose injustice, individual journalists have a tough time doing this. Media people are just like all of us looking to get ahead in their jobs. You dont do that by pissing off billionaires. You create job security by toeing the company line and the only “investigative” pieces you do are exposing a handyman service that screwed over a little old lady or whatever.
Jon Stewart needs to keep doing things like this and needs to keep the “silly comedy show” shroud over himself. He is insulated by this and can call out whoever he wants. Unfortunately most journalists dont have the freedom he has to do this without fear of losing their jobs.

Go watch Idiocracy again. It is at the very least a great idea for a movie and at the best lighthearted and funny throughout. It is nowhere near TWMOAT.

+10Posted on Mar 13th, 2009 | re: Jon Stewart Takes Jim Cramer To The Principal's Office (24 comments)

Did you even watch the videos??? Jon said numerous times that it was not directed specifically at Cramer but at CNBC and news media in general. People want these “feuds” to be so mano-a-mano. It was a much broader point Stewart was making and Cramer was the one to take offense so he became the other mano.
I thought Stewart did a great job in this interview. And in reality everyone agrees with what he is saying (re: 2 markets and media looking the other way) but someone who is taken more seriously needs to make these points. Like maybe someone from CNBC. (which was basically the point Stewart was making in the first place)

Doesnt this have to be a cover story or something???? I mean a bar doesnt really have layoffs does it? And if they werent making any money and really had to reduce some staffing wouldnt they start with guys that no one has ever heard of and not the face of the bar? Shouldnt he be the last person let go? Can i end every sentence in this comment with a ?…..

Its a statement quality that is prominent in his humor…..Like how Dave Chappelle is a funny black man and Dane Cook is an unfunny retarded man.

Once again….I dont understand why they are leaving out the most important part. TDS didnt blindly attack Cramer. It was originally a piece to make Santelli look stupid because he was going to be on the show. Cramer happens to have the top financial show on CNBC so many of his clips were used to prove the point about Santelli. Cramer then made it about him and Jon Stewart with his counter-argument. Yet they keep acting like TDS attacked him out of nowhere.
Also the hypocrisy of the last few statements about the Dems needing to “relax” after they just spent 11 minutes ranting about this was just beautiful.

Aren’t you being cheap in your post as well?? Even Cramer admitted that he was not misquoted. Its a funny bit about a crazy guy being wrong in some of his stock predictions then his station denouncing people that cant make their house payment. You are really going to defend the sweaty caricature of a screaming wall street guy that Cramer plays the part of?

Cramer responded on Today show today i guess. Basically tries to belittle Jon because he is only a comedian. FF to 3:45.

That was great….his basis was that Mama Mia outsold Titanic somewhere (i don’t remember where he said now). So using that criteria……. was Titanic culture all the rage before the musical took it over sometime in late 2008?

+2Posted on Feb 23rd, 2009 | re: This Is Our 2009 Oscar Liveblog. (124 comments)

True. Also something i hadn’t thought about was that by only nominating people from “good” movies you are rewarding more than just their sound mixing abilities. Their judgment in choice of project is being rewarded and by extension their agents and managers are being rewarded. So even thought the Paul Blart sound mixer might be a technical bad-ass…..he/she still fucking agreed to work on Paul Blart and therefore is not as vital to the movie business as the sound guy for Milk or Slumdog.

+7Posted on Feb 22nd, 2009 | re: This Is Our 2009 Oscar Liveblog. (124 comments)

so…isnt this all kinda bullshit? I mean….why is someone in a critically acclaimed movie any better of an actor or a sound guy or whatever than a guy on a shitty movie. So the sound in Slumdog is really good? Or is it a good movie and it has sound so the sound guy is nominated. Wouldnt the sound on say Paul Blart be technically more difficult with all the fart noises and such? Your basically giving a good movie an extra award so at the end you can say it won 7 oscars or whatever. I guess its like how you have to be on a good team to win a heisman. I just dont think anyone can tell one sound guy from another at a certain point so whats the point?

It is a bit ridiculous that you guys spend 80% of your effort on this site making fun of people both on a personal level and broad generalizations. If this is how you feel after an SNL skit mocking people that do what you do but are not you…imagine how this site makes Paul Blart feel. Because he is real and feels for the purposes of this post.

Trying to figure out what type of person a celeb is by only taking into account the snippets of their life that the public is randomly exposed to is completely fruitless. This latest example gives me no more insight into whether or not Christian Bale is an asshole than it does as to whether or not Christian Bale fucks dogs.
I have a hard enough time figuring out if some of my friends that i’m around every day are assholes much less Batman.

Exactly. Play that for someone without first telling them that is says “Islam is the light” and see what they think it is saying. You would have to be listening for that exact phase in order to hear it.
I think is says: “Igla in Delight”

You insult someone’s post/blog while slinging possibly the most out of date expression possible?

My Bad

Please forgive me
I know not what I do
Please forgive me
I can’t stop lovin’ you
Don’t deny me
This pain I’m going through
Please forgive me
If I need ya like I do

“although I’m not a marketing major”. … anyone that seriously starts statements this way is an ethnocentric fuck. That being said. Although i am not a professional decider of who needs a punch in the dick, Dane Cook needs a punch in the dick.

Agreed.
This post actually convinced me to see the movie. I had always known that she shows her T’s in this but i thought it would be in a quick shot, changing clothes kind of way. Nobody told me she squeezed her nipples and stuff. That should be the tagline on the DVD. “Anne Hathaway squeezes her nipples and stuff”.
I am purchasing immediately.
