Don’t forget Pedro Warmodovar
I thought it was maybe the best Fringe ever. I usually enjoy it, but I tend to find the drama shallow and the mysteries not that much more than freak-show curiosities. But this episode made me sit up and take notice. Olivia’s return had surprising weight to it, the conclusion to which felt organic, fresh and weighty. The mystery portion was terrific; the whole situation was legitimately unsettling and the marionette scene was kind of sublime. It felt like an honest to god Gothic novel.
See, my reading of it is that everything that was spoken happened literally, and that only the stop motion was imagined by Abed.
(or, in my preferred interpretation, Abed was secretly recording the entire conversation, and then later made the stop-motion animation to match the soundtrack)
can i just say that “anus madness” really lives up to its name?

God, Mans, all I could think of was David Foster Wallace too, and especially, how he totally refutes everything she says. What made him great is, I think, the same thing that made him chronically anxious and depressed, and that is his superhuman lucidity and empathy, and the excruciating honesty of his work.
But yeah, whatever. If only he had believed in fairies, right?
