I would like to nominate Something’s Gotta Give (Meyers, 2003) and Anything Else (Allen, 2003). Apparently 2003 was the year I saw two of the worst movies in the entire world. Help!
“It was all worth it.”
“Shutter Island.”
Can I just say, because I feel like maybe it should be said sometimes and why do I need a reason anyway, that Videogum is my happy place?
I have no desire to see the show (ever), but I have to agree. Lots of love to this column. What torture are you taking on next?
Apparently everyone’s more of a jerk than Audrey Tatou, according to current results. Your entire premise is flawed! The premise that some people may possibly be more of a jerk than they seem based on the fact that they seem so nice! That premise!
I’m still upset that Something’s Gotta Give has been overlooked AGAIN. Worst movie ever! And with Nancy Meyers’ latest pile of garbage coming out soon, it would be TIMELY!
Gabe, I loved it too! Just thinking about the dancing makes me happy. I was disappointed by Where the Wild Things Are (kids apparently all want to be dissected in a careful and obvious psychological portrait! like a pre-teen The Cell!) and so I was glad at least one of these adults-trying-out-kids-stuff could actually appeal to both kids and adults. Because it is good.
“Five years from now… I’m going to marry her.” Amazing.
At least he’s moving up from the Welsh BAFTAs.

Something’s Gotta Give. Pretty please! I don’t think I’ve ever hated a movie-watching experience more. Maybe 500 Days of Summer, but you’ve covered that one, so I only have this memory left to push upon you.
