Boss Guy: Hey Alex, can you pick us up some sandwiches?
Alex: (seething anger) Sure.
BG: Thanks. Here, we wrote down our orders, you can just go to the sub place down the street.
A: (broiling, white hot anger) FINE.
BG: You okay?
A: (volcanic anger) YEP. Just FINE.
BG: Cool, take your time, no rush.
A: (sun implosion anger)

For the record, Stanger DID spend three minutes in a gay bar. It was very loud, there was a lot of dancing, and she saw two guys making out. So I think she’s more than entitled to make a few inferences about the community. Go ahead Patti, infer away.

Just read about this over at the AV Club site and was horrified to learn that Dane Cook has already shot TWO failed pilots, the first of which was of course called ‘Cooked’. Greta job Dane! Third time’s the charm, I’m sure. Here are my brain thunderstorms:

- It’s Dane, Baby!
- Kiss the Cook!
- F*** the Cook, Baby!
- It’s Dane O’Clock, Baby!

That’s all I got.

‘Press conference? Bleh, no, no thank you. Documentary? Ooh, yes please. How many cameras again? Get all of the cameras and point them at me please when I do this. Ready? Neat.’ RP

Very much a fan of Mr. Mande. Bravo to him, I say.

The ‘Aw shucks, we actually have to do a real show now?’ part of the story is what tires me out. Sure, the finale made me yawn, but I get it, there’s no one definition of a ‘perfect’ ending. But you’re not helping yourself when the initial pitch and entire first season was just you throwing stuff at a wall, assuming you’d be cancelled. Again, who makes TV like that? Seems like an indulgent waste of funds.

Ugh. How can I get back the time I spent watching every episode on Netflix just so I could watch the finale along with everyone else? ‘We never thought it would last.’ Well that’s fucking idiotic, guys. You don’t make television shows thinking they’ll get cancelled. That would be like me hosting a BBQ and everyone complaining about the hamburgers being served raw. ‘Oh, I didn’t think you guys would actually wanna eat those.’ Jon! You idiot! Of course we did, it’s a fucking BBQ!

Gotta love this moment in time where people can very clearly say ‘Nope, didn’t say that, said this, moving on!’ Nothing counts and no one is held accountable, so leave me alone, you’re jerks, stop sharing video footage of me saying monstrous things, you jerk media jerks. Christ.

+2Posted on Sep 26th, 2011 | re: The Premiere Episode Of The Tommy Wi-Show (22 comments)

I’ve seen ‘The Room’ twice now with a live audience, spoons and all, and it’s a fun, loud time. Wiseau made an appearance at my first venture and he’s an inexplicable idiot, though questioning how much of that is an act kind of exhausts me. In any case, stuff like this and ‘The House That Dripped Blood on Alex’ (or whatever it was called, I think that’s the correct title) exhausts me even more. ‘Look, I am being goofy over the second time, yes?’ No. Yawn! Sleeping forever now, Tommy, bye-bye. #ZZZ

Big Miracle – Yes-yes, sure, but is it in 3D? Also, I love how the Russians are referred to as ‘Reds’. When the hell does this movie take place exactly? Doesn’t seem at all like a period piece.

Justice – Maybe take a few years off, Nic. Like, five.

The Grey – ‘Close the door. Get under the bed. Now: The wolves are going to take you.’ I’m joking, this actually looks like it could be great. Those wolves are freaking me out right now.

The Deep Blue Sea – Aw, why couldn’t the whole trailer have been shots of people standing, sitting and thinking about sitting or standing? Shoot.

J. Edgar – While I’m glad to see DiCaprio pursuing a role that doesn’t simply require him to sweat and look bug-eyed (see: Shutter Island, Inception) the makeup effects range from just ‘okay’ to ‘bizarrely distracting’. And the fact that Eastwood apparently played down certain aspects of Hoover’s life annoys me to a point where I’m more than willing to write the whole movie off.

Man On A Ledge – ‘No longer available.’ Moving on!

Urbanized – I wish I was more able to tell what this was about beyond the ‘everything you see in a city was designed’ thesis put forth by this trailer, which is more than kind of a ‘duh’ thesis. I need more information! And a deeper context for design.

Great, glad to have this viewpoint represented. Sweet comparison to ObamaCare! Very relevant. So yes, not at all surprised by this being here and totally happy to see it has finally arrived. No thread can do without this perspective! Just wouldn’t seem right. All of the upvotes, birthday cake for everyone, etc into infinity and beyond. #Sarcasm

For the record, of course sexuality has nothing to do with serving in the military. That’s why the policy was repealed. It was a horrific bit of homophobic distinction that silenced and shamed those who should have been allowed to step up to the plate without reservation and offer up their lives in the name of service. DADT was and will forever be a shameful stain on an already muddy American history.

You ever read about something and start to feel your whole mood quickly slide into sadness? That’s what happened just now. So many horrible people so willing to throw everyone else in the garbage …

Ah yes, ‘The White Shadow’, clearly in the pantheon of Klassic Television. ‘You guys watch the new episode of The White Shadow last night?’ ‘Boy DID WE!’ – Conversations of th Past

Sure, because nothing says ‘unconventional’ like a property about an otherworldly man-creature changing the life of one special girl while also turning her world upside down. Very unconventional! Nicholas Sparks is my generation’s David Lynch. Watch out everyone!

I only have one suggestion (Father Knows Biznass) but I also have an idea for a sitcom in which he plays a detective that would obviously be called ‘Snoop’ because that’s brilliant.

Give me your money. Give me your money.

See, 3D is still alive and kicking! This proves 3D is a viable marketing strategy! – Hollywood

Well, no, I don’t think it has anything to do with that. A lot of people just enjoy ‘The Lion King’. – Me

Shut up! ‘Wrath of the Titans’ in 3D Summer 2012! – Hollywood

 +1Posted on Sep 19th, 2011 | re: The 2011 Emmy Awards (100 comments)

Twitter was drowning in #Emmys last night. While I don’t begrudge anyone who chooses to spend their time watching and Live Tweeting such an event, at a certain point I did start to wonder why those who hate it so much were making the commitment. Yes, sure, it’s a pop culture event, and this is to some degree a pop culture site so to a degree it makes sense for it to be covered. After a while though I just wanted everyone to do something they actually enjoyed, like have a nice pad thai meal with friends or watch something that didn’t involve ‘Amazing Race’ puns. I don’t want Gabe and his peers to go through this every year is what I’m saying. They deserve better!

Premium Rush – Does anyone else hate watching trailers through Yahoo? It really is the worst but that may be just my experience. ‘Stick around for the post-trailer ad!’ No. ‘This trailer will stop and start up again every nine seconds!’ Jesus. Anyway, this looks fun? I enjoy JGL because he is charming and cute. Two very good qualities in a lead actor!

The Awakening – Ooh I wanna make a joke about this being a sequel to ‘The Happening’ so bad! I’ll refrain. This trailer didn’t really capture my attention? The way I figure the ghost is either a fake (yawn) or real (double yawn). Either way, turn up the color saturation on this movie!

We Bought A Zoo – Absolutely terrible, a nightmare of a trailer. Poor Thomas Hayden Church having to deliver that atrocious dialogue. This. Look. Abysmal.

Red Lights – Jesus, no. Enough already about the truth being the greatest illusion of all or whatever. Is this ‘The X-Files 3′? Thanks for bringing us that teaser, MTV.

Goon – Not available in my country. Moving on!

The Raid – Saw this earlier in the week. I remember a lot of running, some guns, maybe a fight or two. Pretty sure it’s a foreign version of ‘Tower Heist’.

The Big Year – Words kind of can’t (but kind of can and will) describe how much I disliked that opening bit in which a clearly dead inside Steve Martin mugged while introducing his co-stars. That was really sad and depressed me just a bit. But anyway I’m sure people living in this shitty economy would love to watch a movie about three pricks who can afford to race around the world. Nice mild gay panic joke, too. ‘You two might have possibly had gay sex?!’ ‘Don’t ask!’ LOL

13 – Ugh, Yahoo. I can’t spend another ten minutes trying to watch a two-minute trailer. But Statham looks great in that hat. I enjoy his work!

I think this will be fine as long as Jeffrey Wright can say ‘It is called the Source Code’ in every single episode.

‘I don’t care if other people who did it in the past were considered racist. I have no context when it comes to racial history so that means nothing to me. So ultimately what I’m telling you is that I did this and am also not racist. Case closed! Where is my attache case?’ – These Guys

+20Posted on Sep 15th, 2011 | re: Stephen Colbert Weighs In On The Michele Bachmann HPV Thing (32 comments)

But see, this is what America is all about: Freedom! Freedom to take a risk and potentially get cervical cancer. Should we as a government allow a woman to contract and subsequently die of cervical cancer just because she can’t afford or have access to a vaccine that could have reduced the chances of that happening? (cries of ‘YES!’ from the crowd) Well, the public has spoken. Liberty!

- Something that was probably said at a Tea Party debate.

This guy is on his way to the top. Crawling, inching, sweating, blinded by wind and gritty sand, his bare feet bleeding as they’re lacerated by the sharp rocks beneath his body. But on the way nonetheless!
