I can’t believe that this actual quote from last night’s episode has not been pointed out yet:

“Because cooking is, like, what I do.” -Marcel

Classic Marcel. Very Top, very Chef.

Also, Burlesque? BURLESQUE?

I will never understand how The Tourist was nominated for Best Picture – Musical or Comedy and Toy Story 3 was confined to Best Animated Feature.

I’ve always thought that the variations of “what’s in the hatch?” have been pretty funny, but that last picure and caption just about made me piss my pants.

You spelled Daniel Radcliffe wrong.

This is one of life’s greatest mysteries, I feel. Probably close to 98% of the musical acts sound TERRIBLE on this show, even when it’s an artist known for playing good live shows. Maybe that stage just has, like, the worst acoustics in the world?

+5Posted on Nov 22nd, 2010 | re: Saturday Night Live: Anne Hathaway And Florence & The Machine (68 comments)

Agreed. I kinda felt his normal speaking voice was a strange mash-up of his Will Smith and Kanye West impersonations.

Also, I never want to hear him impersonate Biggie Smalls ever again. After he did Jay-Z, I was so impressed that when he was like, “Now I’m gonna do Biggie Smalls,” I got pretty excited, but then I was like please, Jay Pharoah: never again.

I’ve only been a commenting Monster for a week and a half now, but it has already improved my quality of living SO MUCH. For instance, National Trailer Day really paid off last night at the midnight showing of Harry Potter 7.1 (which I totally went to even though I’m way too old to be into wizards and midnight is sooo past my bedtime (GO TO BED, ME? Did I do that right?)) when nearly all the trailers preceding the film were trailers that I’d seen on this site a day before and therefore already had jokes about them prepared.

Seriously, though, I’ve been lurking on this site since May when I stumbled upon Gabe’s Lost recaps and LOVED THEM TO DEATH, and you Monsters have become like living legends to me. It took me so long to gather the courage to start commenting because I was so intimidated by how funny and intelligent and amazing all of you were. “I’ll never be that funny or intelligent or amazing. Nobody will like me. I will get no upvotes.” -Me.

But then I made my first comment and teacherman made no hesitation to upvote and welcome me simultaneously! And then later down the road, Superglue engaged in conversation with me regarding Singin’ in the Rain! A comment I made got thirty-five upvotes this week, which in the grand scheme of comments is not so many upvotes, but to me it meant that thirty-five of some of the the smartest and wittiest people on the Internet enjoyed what I had to say. And that made me feel so good.

So thanks, guys. I appreciate all of you.

This is kinda the perfect title for any memoir.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.

I don’t understand. What does this have to do with movie trailers or Bristol Palin? I thought we had established a theme!

RIGHT? I think I liked JGL’s attempt on SNL better. Even though he did mostly the same gags as the movie, at least then they were kinda funny? Or am I misremembering?

 +7Posted on Nov 17th, 2010 | re: Glee S02E07: Cooooool Substitute (83 comments)

I’ve been wanting Glee to a Singin’ in the Rain episode for probably a hundred years by now, what with it being my favorite musical and all. Like Mr. Schue, it is my go-to-movie for when I’m feeling sick. And yet this episode comes around and I am soooo disappointed! WHAT WAS THAT? I mean, the mash-ups on this show are never particularly good, but that Singin’ in the Rain/Umbrella song was AWFUL.

And Make ‘Em Laugh? Yeah, I appreciate the homage, but it definitely didn’t work. It’s like when Brittany did the Brittney episode and she just did a bunch of Brittney video spoofs, but at least those kinda got the point across. The original intention of those videos was to be sexy and Brittany’s interpretation was certainly sexy. But the original intention of Make ‘Em Laugh was to be funny, and was Schue’s cover funny? No. Definitely no. Positively no. Decidedly no. Nuh-uh.

That said, I pretty much thought that the Cee-Lo cover was the best song of the night.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I was just thinking about all the things I could do with children of different ages.”

I have a feeling that if I used that line every time I got distracted, people wouldn’t react the same way.

+1Posted on Nov 11th, 2010 | re: BREAKING NEWS: EVERYBODY WATCHES LOTS OF TELEVISION! (119 comments)

That should have been either “at fault” or “to blame.” Couldn’t make up my mind, so I combined ‘em.

+5Posted on Nov 11th, 2010 | re: BREAKING NEWS: EVERYBODY WATCHES LOTS OF TELEVISION! (119 comments)

If you look closely at the numbers, a lot of Democrats are watching the shows on the Republicans’ side as well, whereas very few Republicans are watching (most) of the “Democrat shows.” On the Red side, most of the secondary numbers score in or close to the hundreds (with the exception of Glenn Beck). This is not the case for at least 50% of the shows on the Blue list. So it’s not just the Republicans who are driving crap like Two and a Half Farts up the ratings chart; Democrats are just as much at blame.

In conclusion: the chart means nothing, obvs.

True story: The Simpson’s premiered exactly one week before I was born. I have literally never known a world without them.

I’m still waiting for my Cheerios spin-off, when I no longer have to sit through the whiny characters that I hate (most of them) and just get to watch Sue and Britany all day (all day = one hour of primetime).

My first comment on this site and I’m already a plagerist commentator. Well, vgum, we had a good run… I’ll show myself out.
