Just one picky point here: Conan O’Brien did not get fired. Jay Leno got fired. He’s the one who had his show cancelled. Conan quit, in an act of throwing himself on the grenade Jeff Zucker planted in the Tonight Show. He chose to quit his job rather than be part of the The Tonight Show’s destruction. To say that he was fired cheapens the sacrifice he made for the sake of his own integrity, and the promises he made to Johnny Carson before he took over the show.
