Has no one in this thread ever heard of straight privilege? Or white privilege for that matter?

I mean, every day is straight pride day. Kind of like how every month but one month is white history month. We just don’t call it that because it’s part of the dominant discourse.

I can understand that the stereotype embodied by Bruno can cause a certain amount of self-hate in those that don’t identify with his behavior, as can the sort of mass imagery that accompany “pride.” But it’s still important to be proud. Being out and and vocal about it, no matter who you are, reminds people that LGBT people are in every walk of life and every shape size and color. That also includes those who ride floats and wave around rainbow flags and cover themselves in glitter while wearing speedos. We’re all in the same boat, and accepting LGBT people means accepting them too. I’m just amazed by the amount of unaware self hatred going on here.

Remember, We still live in a country where I can be beat up for holding my boyfriend’s hand, and people exist that think I deserved it. I’ve had to move into different subway cars while showing a little PDA because some guy will come on yelling about how there’s too many “fags” in new york and he wants to beat them. Would that ever happen to a straight person? No. All that might happen is someone would yell “get a room.”

Sorry, I know comment rants are useless, but like… ya’ll, we need to overcome this sort of bigotry that exists within LGBT communities just as much as straight people need to realize that not all gay people are flamboyant and promiscuous.

Ok, totally off topic.

WTF is this “woof” shit? In my experience “woof” is something that is said while at events predominantly attended by people in the gay bear community. You say “woof” when you find someone attractive. Gabe, do you know that this woofing is a common and complimentary thing in some circles? Because I don’t think I’ve ever heard it used outside of the bear events I go to and have no idea what “woof” is supposed to mean here.

I actually was rejected from beng a cashier for near minimum wage at some crappy fast food wraps place near NYU when I was a freshman in college. I was desperate for a job and was pretty pissed. The world of fast food service is fuckin’ cut throat, it’s no joke.

When I grow up, I want to be a “puberty teacher.”

I’m really confused what the argument is that there is negative impacts on small businesses? I thought more marriages means more buying of delicious cakes, needless decorations, more renting of event venues, giant liquor purchases, ect….

I’m so glad someone dug this up. Some friends in high school used to have a VHS copy of this movie and we used to get drunk and watch it and crack up, I wish I could find it again, it’s mysteriously absent from his IMDB profile. It’s a possibley made for TV movie that is a series of vignettes created by a romance writer who appears in interstitial segments between the “steamy” romance stories. She also looks like she smells like morning breath. She’s trying to write he next great romance novel and Fabio stars in all of them. There’s 3 different stories if I remember right.

There’s a scene in the second austin powers that directly references this pirate vignette where he and a lovely lady who washes ashore play chess. I’m pretty sure only myself and 45 year old cat ladies who read romance novels got the reference.

Can we talk about steve zahn’s butt in the photo? I could bounce a quarter off of that! I could use it as a bookshelf! That thing is out there.

Was it just me, or was it implied at one point that Alex was Whidmore’s illegitimate child (that then Ben raised as his own) and that’s why Whidmore wanted her and Rousseau dead? I thought that’s what the conversation was about when Whidmore was getting exiled and led to the submarine…

Maybe I am just making up my own plots here.
