J.J. Abrams is great, but his new show sounds like the opposite of that. “They’re as likely to make a marinara sauce together as they are to bug an embassy,” says one insider. Whoops, that’s your insider.

i’m sorry, but when do we get to finally say that JJ Abrams is not actually great? Basically, people like Lost. From the man that wrote armageddon and regarding henry, creator of fringe and alias, and producer of possibly my least favorite movie of 2009, star trek? (and, yes, i did just check his resume to confirm my active dislike of his work)
Then you are nothing if not thorough in your disdain and fact-checking.
Alias was good, once upon a time.
Uhhhhhh least favorite movie? Star Trek? Like, do you mean that in your top five, it was number five? I don’t know what else you could mean. And also, unless you have a screener or something you haven’t seen “It’s Complicated,” so hold your fire, RB. Set phasers to stun, or something.
i dont know what to tell you, i went in to seeing Star Trek really looking forward to it, it was getting great reviews and everything i read about it or heard about it made me think i would like it. but i found it really corny, ham-handed, and just plain boring. I actually think “it’s complicated” looks pretty good–does he have something to do with it? i didnt know. I’m not sayiing he’s evil incarnate or anything i’m just saying that everyone’s all “JJ Abrams is great” and i do not like most of what he’s done (i did enjoy the pallbearer and i am trying to get into Lost–everyone says it’s worth it)
i dont know who jj abrams is to be honest. is he the guy who makes medical dramas or the guy who blows stuff up? anyway, there is a show on hulu now called what about brian, and jj abrams is the producer. woooooooof. it is such a miserable wreck. not that that has stopped me from watching it, but it’s a personal challenge at this point. there’s this one scene in the second episode i think? where the guy from seventh heaven is awkwardly dancing at a club, and i would give someone 1 million eprops if they could make a gif of it. hulu.com/what-about-brian
I’ll say its a personal challege! I thought ‘hey some wreck of a show’ so, you know, I’ll bite. But its an hour long drama. No bite!
ooh, I watched What about Brian while it lasted. Left over 7th heaven crush?
“And that?s not the only complication: Samantha has a screw-up sister who works for the catering company[!]” ZOMG! Too many spy chefs spoils the ||[ gunshot ]||
Is marinara code for something I should know about as a lifetime porn addict? e.g.:
James Bond: Your looks a bit limpid this morning. Let me toss
Johnny Fedora: Put a cherry on top of that, and I’ll consider.
George Smiley: She makes a wonderful cream-pie.
Alex Rider: I toss my yogurt before each big mission.
Sydney Bristow: I never turn down wiener stew or banana souffle.
Nikita: Throw a bitch a bone!
Jack Ryan: Take it back! And this time, less Butter, please.
Jason Bourne: I ordered no dark meat!
Michael Samuelle: Garcon! I enjoyed the fudge.
Quiller: To think, such a gorilla salad, wasted on the likes of you.
Philip McAlpine: I think I’ll take some Half and Half with it, if you don’t mind.
***To be used as examples of slang only, and not in illustrating my degeneracy.
You know, I can tell everyone’s going to hate this, and probably with fair reason, but I can tell I’m probably gonna love it (or at least watch it for a few episodes with the intention of loving it), ’cause it’s basically Alias 2.0. And like with Alias and Fringe, that Abrams crazy shit that actually makes no sense and sometimes makes me cringe with embarrassment totally will endear me to it. The first step is admitting you have a problem.
also, when do we get to stop connecting abrams to lost? he has so little to do with it these days that it seems really unfair to cuse and lindelof who actually work on the show full-time and don’t run around making million-dollar blockbusters. that being said, i love alias and i refuse to be ashamed (well, at least for the first few seasons).
Agreed – JJ Abrams has as much to do with lost as Mary Shelley had to do with Frankenstein (1994)
