This footage from a 1980s computer fair is mesmerizing. I was going to say that they don’t make nerds like they used to, but they basically do.

  1. I found my self unexpectantly longing for the 80s.

  2. i just can’t watch this after the opening shot of this manchild staring into my soul….to scary…

  3. What makes me happy is that those very same young computer nerds are probably now young-to-middle-aged internet nerds browsing the webs pointing themselves out in these videos to their children.

  4. This is EXACTLY how every boy I knew in middle school looked.
Thanks for the flashback, VG. Totally awesome.

  5. This is basically my porn. NSFW!!

Yes, nerds are like the majestic great white shark; our evolution ceased in the distant past.

I’ve been collecting self-published comics from the 80s (There was a big explosion of these after the Ninja Turtles comic got big), and the people who wrote them are exactly like the nerds of today. I’ve got comics by furries (Yes, even back then they existed as a distinct subculture) and faux-manga by white guys who wish they were Japanese.

I’m convinced that if you traveled back in time to the late 30s and see the first ever sci-fi conventions, the people there would somehow look and talk just like modern nerds.
