J-Stache trailer, you guys:

At first I did not like what was going on here, but then things got weird and I didn’t even know what to think. It’s like Aqua Teen Hunger Force combined with Yacht Rock. This cartoon (which is on Twitter? Of course it is) has been in development for well over a year, apparently. According to an ancient Billboard article, this is the plot of the pilot:

It will portray Oates opening a new wing of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that focuses on mustachioed musicians. Suddenly, a dying David Crosby appears and with his last breath warns Oates of a mysterious secret group of mustache wearers bent on killing other mustache wearers. As actor Tom Selleck attempts to escape from the latest murder scene, Oates summons his own mustache with a fist pump that simultaneously changes his clothes from conservative attire to pink pants and white boots.

OK, weirdos. Cartoons are so weird these days. Why can’t they be normal, like Gummi Bears. Just a secret race of medieval bears who drink Cocaine Juice and fight an evil Duke and his army of ogres, all based on delicious candy. You know, normal stuff!

  1. I’m going to vote: die.com

  2. The real question is where’s Daryl Hall during all this?

  3. YOU GUYS! I think this was started/is run out of the advertising agency that I work for here in STL and let me tell you, the guys who are behind this are The Worst. Seriously, just forget you saw this lest we encourage them (I’m not watching it so I don’t know if it is funny or terrible) Just ignore the mustache stuff and the bacon obsession and maybe they will just go away.

  4. Good to see Gabe’s tache from Gabe and Max is still getting work

It’s good to see Dave Attell is still working.

Is “John Oates’ moustache voice actor” a career move?

  6. I never thought I’d be so happy to utter the words “totally shaved” until I saw this crap about moustaches.

  7. Have you seen the sick mustaches on the St. Louis Cardinals lately? Baseball is relevant again. Finally!

  8. This is weird, but to be honest I usually like the stuff on Funny or Die. “Drunk History” is the reason I get up every morning. That, and my job (haha, just kidding).

Yes! I’m always trying to stir up conversation with my friends about Gummi Bears, but nobody seems to remember it…I knew you would Gabe. You always do.

I think this work well as a one time TV Playhouse type cartoon on SNL…

Once. And just once. There’s only so many fuckin’ mustache jokes you can take.

  12. I am 100% OK with them going to hell in any way possible, hand basket, sin wagon, mustache train whatever. just get in there.

  13. “Some people have war in their countries.”

  14. cartoons are for youngins.

  15. waffles of course

  16. Waffles. Of course.

  17. Santa, nope you’re wrong. It was made by me and my crew. I don’t know of anyone in STL. No ad agencies are involved with this at all. A company called Primary Wave put the whole project together. Yeah, it’s a bit polarizing and definitely not for everyone, but the most important thing I’ve learned from making this is, if John Oates was able to put ego entirely aside and embrace a funny retelling of his mustachioed former self, then there is something grand and worth living for in this world. Your hate makes us strong. Thanks.
