We just saw the trailer for The Invention of Lying a week ago, which Ricky Gervais wrote, directed, and stars in, and here he is already doing promotion for another movie called Cemetery Junction (which he wrote, directed, and stars in). Do not stick your hand in the Ricky Gervais while it is running. Wear protective goggles while operating the Ricky Gervais. (The joke here is that he is a machine.) Trailer, of sorts, you guys:

While it is true that this trailer did not actually tell us anything about the movie other than that it was written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, and that it features Ralph Fiennes, basic facts we could have gotten from IMDB (Joan Schneider as Unit Production Manager!), the truth of the matter is that I would pay $11.50 to watch the two of them shit on Ralph Fiennes (or as he will come to be known from here on, Chuckles Fiennes) for an hour and a half, so same diff. BABY ON BOARD. (Thanks for the tip, Samir.)

  1. When he says “cemetary junction” it reminds me of fake barbara walters on 30 rock trying to say “The Rural Juror”.

  2. I’d forgotten how much I love Gervais’s asshole comedy. The movie must be funny though right? I can only guess from the title that it will be some sort of send up of horror movies or horror/comedy movies? Whatever, I’m totally psyched to see it.

Cemetery Junction is set in the 1970s in Reading, Berkshire, where Gervais himself grew up. It follows two twenty-somethings who work as building society clerks. According to Gervais, it is a “coming of age” story that is a cross between The Office and Mad Men.
      You were close.

  3. You know, production managers work ridiculously hard for extremely long hours and they never get any credit. I’ll bet Joan Schneider poured her blood, sweat and tears into this movie and its probably about time she got name checked (Although I noticed you didn’t list her in the tags). I hope this is the beginning of a trend. Good for you Joan!

  4. Rage Against the Ricky Gervais.

  5. Can you smile a little creepier, Fiennes? I’m not having waking nightmares yet.

  6. i’m so glad gervais is a machine as he (along with merchant) make stuff worth watching. i’ll see this over Pogo Ball: End Times any day.

i heard your dad went into a restaurant and ate everything in the restaurant and they had to close the restaurant.

  8. Ohhh, so THAT’S how you pronounce “Gervais.” I’ve been saying it like it’s a French verb.

  9. Ricky AND Stephen in a MOVIE?!?! I just had so many orgasms. And they were HILARIOUS!

  10. [singing] Baby on board…something, something…Burt Ward!
    This song practically writes itself.

    Aren’t they still filming this?

  12. if ricky gervais is a machine, then stephen merchant is some kind of gargantuan gangle-creature.

  13. I had never realized that Stephen Merchant is so tall

    I Love Gabe.
He is so dry. Which is the opposite of how my vagina is when he makes jokes likes this.
