The most charming celebrity, Neil Patrick Harris, was on CBS’s Early Show this morning to speak briskly about his Tony-hosting gig and about getting advice from Whoopi Goldberg and Hugh Jackman. The funniest part was when they showed a picture of a makeup-and-tattoo-covered, very serious-looking NPH In Cabaret (“I had to dye my underarm hair blue-black for six months”), but the weirdest part was when they showed him a picture of how he would look with Kate from Jon And Kate Plus 8‘s terrible haircut.

Why did they think NPH would care? And it’s sort of paparazzi-like that they’re asking unrelated celebrities to comment on the Jon And Kate scandal. Also, I totally think they asked him about that show because they think because he’s gay he must watch TLC all the time, which is a harmful stereotype. It was great how he basically completely dismissed the show, though. Fight the Jon And Kate Plus 8 power, Doogie.

  1. Seriously though, her haircut is terrible.

  2. so NPH was talking about getting pointers from previous hosts of the Tony’s, and i quote “hugh said, between commercial breaks, between segments…. they’re longer than most….”

    run to the bathroom????

BOOM!! also, i lose. apparently wolverine’s advice is to “keep the crowd warmed up.” so underwhelming somehow.

  3. My eighth grad emo friend had a haircut like that. He was a guy. Every time I see her haircut I think she’s a guy.

  4. “Also, I totally think they asked him about that show because they think because he’s gay he must watch TLC all the time, which is a harmful stereotype.” So wait, thinking that gay people watch TLC is a harmful stereotype, yet that’s the only reason you can come up with for why they would have asked him about it? I can’t even tell if you’re being purposefully ironic or not.

  5. The NPH “hey get it! I’m gay!” thing reached it’s point when he was the Shoe Fairy in Seseme Street.

Oh god, I have the biggest crush on Neil Patrick Harris. He’s like the antidote to the gay stereotype, I love it.

  7. “Wow. Really, really.” Yeah, that’s about right, NPH.

  8. okay, but we all need to confront the elephant in the room of all these early show clips. how did that one guy get to be the host? i don’t get it! and i don’t think that’s any agism talking. he might be perfectly likable in person, he’s kind of awkward as host.
