Just kidding. Yes, yes we are. Love ‘N Dancing is a dancing movie like every other…with a twist (that’s my tagline what I just made up, it’s perfect!) Love ‘N Dancing stars Amy Smart, Tom Malloy, Billy Zane, and a bunch of dancers from So You Think You Can Dance (LOL, but for real). And it’s called “Love ‘N Dancing.” And it has a twist!
Love ‘N Dancing premieres in Atlanta (LOL, but for real) on April 30th, and other cities “in May.” I don’t even know why I’m making fun of this movie so much when it’s clearly for 12 year olds, and when I was 12 I wore a pink tshirt everywhere that said “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” in purple puff paint (this was before NASA invented slick paint), and I made that shirt in a fit of sudden, never-replicated creative passion at a slumber party after seeing GJWHF for the first (through sixth) times, and nobody would have predicted the success of that movie, so clearly I don’t know what I’m talking about when it comes to predicting the success of movies about two people who don’t get along at first moving their bodies around in a public place in hopes of winning a prize. (See also: The Cutting Edge, which was so not even a real movie either at first!) Someday Love ‘N Dancing, with its cliche-with-a-kind-of-patronizing-or-maybe-cool-I-can’t-decide-twist plot and its dumb name and its random, yet fast-growing premiere city, will own us all. (Thanks for the tip, Kate!)

NO ONE skips the pathetic stage. It’s genetic. So no frontin’.
I’m hoping for Keith ‘N Cheryl to take the gold… Who knows. Anything is possible.
1. 1:07
2. I hope Billy Zane says: “Where are you going? To him? To be a whore to a gutter rat?”
3. Dirty Dancing 2: Deaf Dancing
point of order: Dirty Dancing THREE. DD2 was Havana Nights.
As someone who has spent more time than I’d like to say watching dance films, I can already see the pitfall in this. Too many things to overcome.
Save the Last Dance- They had to overcome their own fears, and societies stereotypes
Centerstage- She had to overcome the sexual tension between her partner, and her self-doubt.
Love N’Dancing- They have to overcome a hearing impairment, an angry fiance, Amy Smart being inexperienced, a talented and quirky rival, plus all that other stuff (society, their insecurities, blah blah blah). It won’t work. Of course, you can see that from the title as well.
Billy Zane! He’s all kinds of gorgeous. Yes, even with a bald head.
Still though, am I really going to watch this just for him?
… probably.
This movie is so dumb. Like anyone is going to believe they really have a shot against Keith and Cheryl. C’mon guys.
I can’t believe they ruined the twist in the trailer. Knowing that guy is deaf (but apparently can hear) is like ruining an M. Night Shyamalan movie. And by ruin, I mean watching because the movie is ruined for being directed by him.
SPOILER ALERT!!! The REALLY SHOCKING twist is that her fiance turns out to be a total dickhole, and so she gets with deafie instead.
I just love the part where she’s like “I have a fiance, I have no time.” Remember the simple days where we weren’t swamped with fiances and we could just dance if we wanted to? What happened?
well, clearly you don’t have any time to spare with a fiance who is never around. his absence really fills up her calendar?
seriously, it’s like this movie is trying to redefine time itself. so…maybe it’s deeper than it ever intended to be?
According to the end credits of that trailer, it also stars Rachel Dratch. So, LOL.
You call that a dance movie twist? It doesn’t look like The Devil is even in this.
ummm….caroline rhea? right? i saw her in the background for .025 sec. what a cast.
and i like that amy smart ends up in that blue number so they must end up as the leads in xanadu at the end, right?
Don’t forget that other great films have premiered here in Atlanta – like “Gone With the Wind” and “Batman and Robin.”
Any trailer that starts, “In a world….” you already know is going to be bad. Period.
WAIT, he’s DEAF?
I wonder if they’ll hook up at the end. With EACH OTHER.
Um I just realized, how can you dance to MUSIC with your hearing aid TURNED OFF?
I saw the film at a test screening and it was FANTASTIC! You’re all a bunch of geeks for commenting on stuff you don’t know about. How about being happy that it’s a positive, funny dance movie and not the same “Dance for your life…” bullcrap.
The deafness isn’t a twist, morons. The story was based on a real guy who was deaf and danced by feeling the beat of the music. And no, Billy Zane is not just a normal dick… he’s actually charming in the film and really, really funny.
