Barack Obama was on Leno last night, attempting to change the world and fix the financial crisis in one late-night TV appearance, but nooooo, everyone is focusing on one offhand comment he made comparing his bowling skills to the Special Olympics:

I think the non-mentally-disabled Special Olympics organizers who are mad about this should ask themselves: if there is a bowling category in the Special Olympics, is 129 considered a good score? Are we all just supposed to pretend that what occurs at the Special Olympics are feats of unprecedented sports ability, that the thing that SO participants earn is not self-esteem, sportsmanship skills, and the pride of accomplishment, but actual world records? Because if not, Obama’s metaphor, while a goof and a mistake and something that hopefully won’t hurt any real feelings, fits pretty well.

But Obama better not slag the paralympics. I’ve seen Murderball and that shit is real. (You can watch the entire interview on Hulu.)

  1. I hate to keep up the whole “Go Canada! CANADIANS READ THIS BLOG, EH?” thing but…
one of our former prime ministers told an opposition member to “F*** off” and did mocking pirouttes behind the Queen’s back.

All i’m saying is, you guys have some catching up to do.

    • Trudeau was a douche. Canada was an actual country once upon a time, but then Mr. Rolling Stones Cuckold rode the place like Slim Pickens on a nuke and turned it into a beaver-themed amusement park for American stoners and inexperienced British ski enthusiasts. (Too soon?) First socialized health-care, and now a lame sense of humor on national teevee. Yawn. When he gets around to kicking talk show hosts in the nuts you know you’re in trouble. IS THIS REALLY THE PATH YOU WANT TO GO DOWN, AMERICA!?!

      • Man there are a lot of things to rag on Trudeau about (a LOT of things.)
But ragging on him for making canada not a country anymore? What? He was LITERALLY the person to make us an officially independent country. In a lot of ways we were still technically sucking Queen teet, before him.

You could probably throw some regionalism arguments back, which would be reasonable. But your evidence of trudeau’s destructive anti-nationalism, seemed to be based on tourists smoking weed and getting injured in skiing accidents? So maybe call it a day.

  2. So….does the fact that Daniel Tosh has a FUNNIER joke about The Special Olympics mean he’s better suited for the president? Because I would vote for a Tosh/Swardson ticket.

  3. Yeah, sure, retard jokes are always funny, and most everyone’s made one or two in their time. Maybe when you were ten and that jerk Bobby Thompson poked himself with his own scissors. What a retard. Or when you were drunk in college that time and you called your buddy a retard for tripping over a shrub and totally wiping out.

This is the president of the United States on national TV making a retard joke. He’s the single most powerful man in the world and he’s making fun of the Special Olympics. Glad we’ve got a grown up running our country.

No wonder he uses that teleprompter so much.

  5. But I thought he was perfect?!??!?!!?!?!?

  6. I bowled a 127. What does that mean?

Actually, I know a Wisconsin Special Olympics silver medalist in bowling from a couple years back, in her 3-game series her top score was 180, with the other two games not far behind. There’s an AP story out there interviewing a Special Olympian who’s bowled 5 300 games in the past 5 years, so while he may be better than some Special Olympians, he certainly wouldn’t be competitive.

  8. I saw that, and I wasn’t entirely sure that it happened. It was definitely cringe worthy.

As a retard, he has lost my vote. Can retards vote by the way?

  10. Damn. Had George Bush made that comment, everyone would be calling him an insensitive prick and asking for his resignation by now.
