One (hopefully) last thing concerning the thing everyone’s totally sick of that was The Oscars: last night The Daily Show returned just in time to cover the Academy Awards, which for the past two years has been hosted by Jon Stewart. So, in the guise of Oscar coverage, correspondent John Oliver concluded that Jon didn’t host this year because our country was ready for the change represented by Hugh Jackman (and his “spectacular Australian cock.”) The funniest part, though, is at the end, when Oliver’s impression of Jon’s desperate need for attention and validation as a “sad clown” crosses the line into being kind of true about all performers, even our humble J-Stew.

“Please Jon. Save it for next year. In your Oscar night liveblog.” (Ha!)

  1. Don’t get me wrong, Jon Stewart is a funny guy. He’s just not willing to pee his pants on cue, as Hugh Jackman has enjoyed doing for at least 100 years.

The best part about that (for me) was when he called him the George W. Bush of comedy, and I was like, “No, Dane Cook is the George W. Bush of comedy,” and then I was like, I read videogum too much.

  3. Ellen hosted two years ago, not Jon.
