Well, the Phil Collins Cadbury gorilla is back.

Apparently Cadbury did the exact same thing with another commercial featuring trucks, where they just replaced the music. The Bonnie Tyler remix of the gorilla commercial was originally just a fan-generated mash-up but now it’s an official commercial in England, and the advertising agency claims it is “giving credit” to the mash up’s creator. On the one hand, this is an interesting new chapter in the internet-users-influencing-mainstream-content saga, and on the other hand, what does the mash up creator get credit for? Didn’t he just put new music over your ad? Which, now that we think of it, you really think that’s all it takes to make a new ad?

  1. Firstly, they could have picked a much better song to create a more cool and less retarded effect. Even though its a fake gorilla playing the drums in a werid commercial so how much more retarded can you get?
    Secondly, what does this have to do with chocolate?

  2. With the Phil Collins I actually fell for it the first time, because that song would genuinely be used showing magestic gorillas. This one just seemed fake.
