Well, that was a half-assed episode, wasn’t it? Ben Affleck was there even though he wasn’t promoting anything (did he just call Lorne and tell him he had a Keith Olbermann impression?), and they gave air time to a desperate old man (pictured, right.) And don’t give me jar glove. Jar glove was a repeat! After the jump, the funniest parts, including GIRAFFES.

5. I’ll decide whether or not this was funny at 11pm tomorrow night:

4. You might have to be an Olbermann viewer to enjoy this, and it starts out weak, but when Ben really gets going as Angry Indignant Olbermann, it’s pretty spot-on:

3. Alec Baldwin visits The View. Mostly funny because anything involving Alec Baldwin in even the most tangential way is funny:

2. And remember when they did SLOTHS? Here’s another in that series: GIRAFFES:

1. The best part of this week’s Saturday Night Live was this:

First Jon Hamm, now Paul Rudd? Who is casting this, my subconscious? November 15: OMFG!

Line of the night — http://tinyurl.com/6da62u — if only because I’m pretty sure McCain still doesn’t know what “The Hills” is.

  2. Paul Rudd and Beyonce is going to be the best show of the year. A host and musical guest I’ve been wanting forever

  3. Is it weird that when I saw Paul Rudd was hosting I actually thought that Lindsay was probably as excitied as I am? Ok, it’s weird. Sorry.

  4. yeah, my god I can’t believe the View skit was in the top 5. it was painful and way to long. Affleck was a sport and did his best throughout, and his Obermann was inspired if also to long. I thought the funniest part was actually McCain on Weekend Update, especially the “Sad Grandpa” line. Come on, he may be desperate and totally not going to be president, but he has a pretty good sense of humor. i remember seeing him on the Daily Show a few times years ago and thinking he was pretty hilarious. Also David Cook was terrible. Scott Stapp part Deux. The Grady Wilson Put the Fire Back in it sketch was pretty funny!….right?!?

Scott Stapp- Thank you- I had said Nickleback- but now I see that he is actually a Hybrid of Creed and Nickleback and one other person I can’t put a name to… but I picture them wearing a vest….

“Giraffes” made me want to call Marky Mark to get him to show Andy Samberg those shoes he made at the end of The Departed.

ANDY SAMBERG: Hey, you know what’s a funny word? “Giraffes”!!!
    NBC: [paycheck]

  6. It feels like they phoned this one in, esp. after last week’s perfect 10 of an episode.

The Grady Wilson sketch was the best of the night and Affleck’s impressions were well-done. Maybe Affleck’s gunning for an Baldwin-like annual host position. B.A. was funny when he showed up that one time in the late 90s or early 00s.

P.S. Kenan’s a lot funnier than given credit for, he makes sketches a lot better than they’re written to be (which can’t be said for some other cast members like Armisen).

  8. Sudekis totally owned in the Giraffes thing. He would have been aweful, but I loved it.
So, no Night School Musical? No The Kelly Brothers? I was SO happy to hear The Kelly Borthers sing last night for the first time in FOREVER!

  9. yea, as much as keenan thompson has been a bit of the worst i thought his sexual techniques instructional dvd was hilarious. especially ‘flight of the bumbebee’ and ‘stormin normandy’

  10. Sorry guys, but the only part of this week that was somewhat watchable was parts of the Olbermann sketch. David Cook?

  11. The Olbermann sketch was fantastic if about 20 minutes too long. I enjoyed Sloths the first time, but Giraffes, while pretty much the same thing, didn’t have the funny lines of the original.

Kenan’s Grady Wilson’s Sex Tips sketch was the best, and I’m not even a big Kenan fan.

  12. I agree about the Kenan sex tip sketch. That shit was hilarious. And the Olbermann thing was fucking hilarious, especially towards the end with the “Special Comment”. I think they were saving the goods for tonight’s election special.

  13. I hate to be the voice of reason, because no one likes reason, but that sex tips sketch was one of the most unwatchable things I’ve seen on the show in a while. And believe me, being a fan of Thompson’s earlier, (admittedly for 10 year olds) more up his alley work like Kenan and Kel and Good Burger, it pains me to admit that that sketch was really borderline offensively bad. I almost pity the guy, because he finally gets a five minute sketch to himself, which never happens (because let’s face it, he’s the worst), and it bombed. It really was cringe-worthy.

  14. I’m with you here, Kevin. That Kenan sketch was fucking dreadful. Par for the course with him.

  15. Uh, does anyone else feel like the Giraffes shit is just a rip off of the George Washington vid from a year or two back?

Not to mention the Chuck Norris fad?
