John Taylor, founding member and bass player for the band Duran Duran, is a British citizen and incapable of voting in the US presidential election. BUT THAT HASN’T STOPPED HIM FROM EXPRESSING HIS OPINION IN A YOUTUBE VIDEO (thanks for the tip, David). That would already be bad enough if he didn’t BRING HIS BASS INTO IT and turn it into AN UNBEARABLE SONG. I just want you guys to know that I will totally understand if you do not click through to watch this video.
For as much as I like Barack Obama, he really turns everyone into the fucking worst.

oh man- from ‘an englishmans point of view’ this was the most irritating thing.
with the flag and the picture and the stupid stupid bass.
Not in my name!
diddy blogs are still worse.
Wow. Do you know how much I loved him in the third grade? I loved him so much…that I am able to find this charming.
Whoa people, he “is” playing the bass line to “Girls on Film”. Can we at least appreciate that?
nice camera work.
john wonderfoul support for obama……wonderfoul bass wonderfoul all…. not name you not understand nothing……
Wha? Shut up. John is awesome.
Oof. Rowr.
I think I could get wrapped up in the emotion of this . He obviously has passion for a belief of change. It really doesn’t matter your political view, he wasn’t telling you one way or another (sides), he was sharing his passion for this country with you. I rather liked it and it moved me. I am a neutral american you should flame me, I’m the one not quite sure how or who to vote for, or why because I’ve lost my zest for politics. I think it’s been a rotten game of late. I don’t admire anyone who hurls insults at another. The two of them might as well wear boxing gloves.
However , because of Mr.Taylors zeal for this country and the thought and heart he put behind it, for him, I just might vote.. his way.(canidate).. he gave me a little faith in what coul be. It’s a shame he can’t vote, I believe he’s lived here quite a while in the good ol’ UK.

Love it! Sorry I didn’t see it in 2008. John, if you are reading this, take heed. Forget the criticisms above. Mr. Obama needs you in 2012. I grew up listening to you and I wonder if you fully understand your influence with today’s middle-aged American women like myself. You and Duran Duran are as much a part of Generation X’s American coming of age experience as John Hughes and the Breakfast Club — maybe even as much as Ronald Reagan and Gorbachev (spelling?). And, now that we Gen-exers are turning 40 and Barack Obama is the first Gen-ex president, we hold the most voting power. Please, please, please stump for Obama in 2012. PLEASE!!!!!! America needs you!
