So Coca Cola has some drink called “Oasis” that they advertise as being “For people who don’t like water,” which is retarded because people who don’t like water should be allowed to die of thirst the way natural selection intended, but anyway, they just banned this commercial in the UK which stars a guy who’s a cactus, his girlfriend, and their cactus baby. It’s gross and weird, I guess, but not the worst:

Apparently, they got 32 complaints after the ad, which was the result of a contest asking people who don’t like water to submit their own ending to the cactus saga, aired during Big Brother. So now it’s banned, while the Baby Wee Wees of the world continue their creepy tyranny.

  1. That child’s conception makes as much sense as Superman and Lois Lane having a child. Could not happen. I dislike this almost as much as I dislike the Old Spice commercial where the centaur man has a HUMAN girlfriend. The abomination implied by that commercial is unsettling.

the fact that this is ripping on badlands is also kinda strange. the movie is all about killing random strangers. which is what you want your beverage associated with.

This ad should be banned for being a Badlands rip-off.

  4. wow.

Speaking of killing random strangers, Oasis drinks are partly the reason we are no longer allowed to have liquids on planes: http://www.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idUSL0883113520080408 I would really hate to be the Oasis PR agency.

People are talking about it being a Badlands ripoff, but you should also compare the music and voiceover to Partricia Arquette’s voiceover at the beginning and end of True Romance. The voiceover doesn’t start til about 1:28 into the clip below:

    • Badland, True Romance & don’t forget Raising Arizona. Cue the music & the Holly Hunter voiceover. That’s Advertising!

  10. Things I’m confused about:
    1. What’s the ‘TWIST’?
    2. What drugs is she on that she’s that happy after being ripped apart? Is Oasis like original Coke? Is that what they’re telling us?
    2. What the hell is this about?
    3. Cacti love water, they just don’t need it as much as other plants (see #2).
    4. Why was this banned?

  11. Gassenhauer!

  12. Ugh, blatant Perdido Street Station ripoff.
