There is nothing crazier in the entire world, which is a very crazy place, than Dan Akroyd (Dan Aykroyd!) starting his own line of crystal-filtered vodka, sold in a skull shaped bottle, and based on his lifelong fascination with the occult. Well, there is one thing crazier in the entire world, and that is an 8 minute long advertisement featuring Dan Aykroyd in which he explains his new line of crystal-filtered vodka, sold in a skull-shaped bottle, and based on his lifelong fascination with the occult.

this is obviously a high-concept (read: not really funny) farce. especially noticeable when he mentions the “really cool bottle” and triple Herkimer diamond filtering. It’s meant to be weird/funny.

also anyone notice the Indiana Jones connection? Aykroyd was in one of the original trilogy, and is good friends with Spielberg. perhaps this is just a strangely conceived DVD tie-in? no stranger that the plot of Indy 4.

Four minutes spent extolling the artistic virtue of a tacky glass skull.

This is actually kind of brilliant. Even the ridiculous length of the clip adds to it.

it’s not important how i know this.

  12. Herkimer Diamonds are just double-terminated quartz (basically like a crystal form of fools’ gold). I think that about clinches it. Along with some of the other things pointed out this is clearly a joke, however elaborate. Think about it: if you’re Dan Aykroyd, why the hell wouldn’t you?

  13. Excellent blog and very interesting information. And the information actual for today? http://pis-dec.ru/mapp.html
