In the past, when I’ve written about It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, it has been to complain about how the show has gone downhill. I know that this is an unpopular position to take because the show is basically the Zooey Deschanel of shows. Well your precious Zooey Deschanel was also in The Happening, nerds, so take it easy. We all make mistakes. Besides, don’t you guys think this hurts me, too? It’s like that part in every movie about drugs ever where the mom is leaned up against the deadbolted door listening to her junkie son beg to be let back in, but through her tears she knows that she simply can’t allow this kind of danger into her house. What I’m saying is that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has stolen from my purse for the last time. And my whole point is that this show has elements of greatness. It can still be saved if we simply gather together in one place and tell the show how it has hurt us. The show needs to want help before it can get help. Other metaphors about recovery.

There’s still hope. When I see things like the gang helping an immigrant fill out a credit card application, I’m reminded of how happy we used to be. I know the show I loved is still in there somewhere. Fight, It’s Always Sunny. You can do this.

It’s so true. The first season was true genius. Waaay back in the middle of the first season, Charlie even myspaced me! I just typed out “myspaced me!” Anyways. Last season was nearly unwatchable. They’ve all been reduced to spastic stereotypes (“Oh, and here’s where Charlie makes a silly face.”) unclever plots and Danny DeVito, drunk on The View though he was, adds NOTHING to the show. Nothing.
I don’t understand how it could have fallen so far – and so quickly.
I agree for the most part. I’d even go so far as to say the show has never topped the first episode “The Gang Gets Racist.” And yet I still can’t help but watch it. Honestly, if I didn’t have a DVR, I’d probably not make time to watch the show at this point.
Sometimes I worry for this show, but at the end of the day, I can rest easy knowing that Fred Savage is at the helm.
I’m gonna have to disagree. I think Sunny has been pleasantly consistent over its three seasons. One of the things I always liked best about the show was that it never felt like it was trying too hard to be funny. I still feel that way.
At least you haven’t given up on it yet. HANG IN THERE!

Wow, and here I thought all the seasons rocked.
I’d have to say that the second season was my favorite. Charlie goes america all over everybody’s ass and Hundred Dollar Baby will always be my favorite episodes. Season three was kind of dissapointing but Im holding onto hope for season four.
The McPoyles in that episode were at their very best. Pretty amazing episode.
