Possibly in response to the internet’s constant fascination with the series of “People who are afraid of harmless things” shows he’s been doing since the late ’90s, yesterday Maury Povitch re-ran an old show starring The Lady Who Is Afraid Of Cotton Balls (also “frogs and jello,” apparently.) While it’s easy to make fun of this woman, deep in my heart I know I would be the exact same way about wooden popsicle sticks:

Via Jezebel. Maybe this clip will go so viral that the Cotton Ball Monster will make a viable Halloween costume in October.

Transgender woman hopes to create awareness (video)
"I thought something was wrong with me," she said. Ybabez's first images of transgender people were on talk shows like Jerry Springer and Maury Povich. However, she doesn't recommend those programs for sexual identity education. Ybabez wants to ...
It’s Refreshing to Hear Dirk Nowitzki Say He Doesn’t Think He Should Be an All-Star
If there is anything I like more than watching talented athletes on the court, field or an ice rink, it has to be hearing those same athletes sound more truthful than the maternity tests on a Maury Povich show. A thunder dunk, an 85-yard completed hail ...

  1. I love love love the “scared” hands starting at :46. That is some great hand acting. Who knew that so much fear could be conveyed with just some hand crossings and fist clenching?

  2. I remember watching this the first time it was on (don’t judge. Maury came on right when I got home from school) and laughing so hard.

  3. Soooo I just sat here and laughed really loudly in the office at the plight of this ridiculous woman. That shit was hilarious. I wanted the Cotton Ball Monster Man to start humping her leg.

I don’t know if you are kidding, but I absolutely hate wooden popcicle sticks too! I can’t stand to touch them, let alone put them in my mouth, and for the record the absolute bane of my existance was when in elementary school you would get a Dixie cup of icecream and a flat wooden spoon. All I could do is sit by and watch mournfully as other children stuff their faces with icecream and dry splinters.

I love Maury’s evil laughter at the end.

  6. this is HILARIOUS!

then again, I’m afraid of 18-wheeler trucks… it’s not like a crippling fear or anything, but they freak me out.
