If Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was Guy Ritchie’s Goodfellas, then Snatch was his Casino, and everything since then has been his American Express commercials (ooph, that sentence was the “opening tracking shot of Touch of Evil” of Martin Scorsese metaphors). He’s basically the British M. Night Shyamalan, but with gangsters instead of ghosts. His career was over hyped from the beginning, and now the bubble has burst, and he can take as many jiu jitsu classes as he wants, it won’t make him a better film director.

What I’m trying to say is: trailer for Guy Ritchie’s new movie RocknRolla after the jump, guys.

Sure, this trailer looks fine. But you know what else looked fine? The trailer for The Happening (lock stock and two smoking ZINGs).

I know that I’m being a little hard on Mr. Ritchie, especially when he’s in the midst of DIVORCE RUMORS, but it can’t be any harder than Madonna’s muscle-and-leather body. I AM EARNING MY BROWN BELT IN ZINGS TODAY.

Off The Shelf
Directed by Guy Ritchie (“RocknRolla,” “Sherlock Holmes”), “Snatch” is a British crime movie, but not the kind you would expect. The film centers on underground boxing promoter Turkish (Jason Statham) and the search for a stolen diamond.

  1. I love Snatch and Lock Stock. I haven’t seen any of Guy Ritchie’s other films, so I can’t really agree or disagree with you on their merits, but this trailer looks really good.

  2. This looks like Snatch part 2, and it makes me happy.
