AICN is reporting that Stan Winston, the special effects wizard behind Jurassic Park, Terminator, and Aliens has died at the age of 62. So far the only confirmation is Wikipedia (which also said that Tim Russert had passed away a half hour before it was reported anywhere, what?), but if it is true this is sad news. He was responsible for some of the most iconic film images of the modern age. Does anyone have confirmation other than a poorly written nerd blog and a group think resource so untrustworthy that it’s basically a jokepedia? Google news turns up zero results.

We should all pour out a little liquid Terminator metal in his honor. I think? I don’t know. Internet, I’m scared. (Worst obituary ever.)
