I can’t make up my mind about The House Bunny, the comedy (out August 22) where Playboy bunny Anna Faris teaches a bunch of nerdy sorority girls (goof! those don’t exist) to remove their glasses, let their hair down, and be beautiful, and they in turn teach her to not be a Playboy bunny or something. On the one hand, Anna Faris is an underrated comic actress who’s due for her own vehicle, on the other, this new clip.
I’d like to celebrate Anna in happier scenes by sharing her Ryan Reynolds Emasculation Monologue from Waiting. It’s okay, because his character is an asshole:
I’ll still hold out hope that The House Bunny will redeem itself with scathing cultural criticism or by being funny.

They showed a preview for that last night at the midnight showing of Hulk and there was maybe one guy in the whole place who was into it. If you can’t get a full house of horny, under-sexed teenage boys interested in a movie essentially about hot girls, idk if it stands a chance.
I would like for there to be a movie where the lesson is that girls can be nerdy and wear glasses and have frizzy hair and not be really skinny and not wear makeup and still be accepted. I would like for there to be a movie where the girl doesn’t have to change herself or what she looks like (guys too. There aren’t as many examples of movies where this happens with guys, but there are some and that should also stop happening). People don’t have to be super-gorgeous to be worthy of respect.
This is why so many major Hollywood films make me want to scream.
I forgot to add that I hope this movie will be some sort of satirical piece or that it won’t be just like all the others. Not trying to judge based on a short clip. Especially since I love Anna Faris.
