Recovering sweater thief Robert Downey Jr. went on Letterman last night to promote Iron Man and talk about his 14 year old son, Indio. When Letterman expressed genuine love-feelings for Iron Man and said he thought it was because Downey had something to do with the script, Downey explained the mission behind the making of Iron Man in his serious, deadpan way:

I guess I just knew that at some point I’d be here talking to you or going on tours or something and it sucks when you’re talking to someone you know hates the movie that you’re there promoting, so we thought why not make one that doesn’t stink for a change?

Downey also shows off his Iron Man action figures, which he insists look exactly like Scott Baio (and they do.)
