If there is one thing I have always been glad of, it’s the fact that I just missed having the internet in my adolescence. There is nothing more shameful and humiliating than being me between the ages of 11 and 28. Not to sound like Barry Sonnenfeld, but I worry sometimes for the children and the apparent ease with which they eliminate themselves from ever being eligible for public office. Every night I thank God (no I don’t) that there is no google-able record of my coming-of-age.

But that’s just the internet. I would love for there to be a beautifully photographed, high budget documentary about my teenage years. You know, something combining The Breakfast Club, Freaks and Geeks, and the 7 Up series. Something … dramatic pause … like American Teen.
