Like Katniss and Peeta, we all get a little hungry when surviving the televised battle to the death between our young peers forced upon us by our oppressive government as punishment for a past rebellion against it. And what are we going to do about it? Kill ourselves with poisonous berries so we don’t have to murder the only other remaining competitor, who happens to be from our own district? UHHHH, N-N-N-NOPE! Why not ch-ch-ch-check-a-check-a-check-out these #FRESH Subway sandwiches instead! From The Drum:

Subway has teamed with Lionsgate ahead of the UK release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire to launch its fiery range of Jalapeno Melts.

The media campaign launches on 6 November with 30-second and 10-second TV spots across all major terrestrial and digital channels and cinema activity kicking off from 15 November. …

Manaaz Akhtar, regional marketing director for the Subway brand in Europe said: “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is one of the most anticipated films of the year. We wanted to create an experience that would enhance the film even further, and give Hunger Games and Subway fans the chance to relive the film both in-store and online.”

“The fans were clamoring for a way to relive the series of novels, and we heard from many that the combination of the films and their nightly sleep terrors wasn’t enough. So we thought that Subway induced indigestion might just be the perfect addition! #jalapenomelts #dystopianfresh” MMMM, MMMM GOOD. (Via Uproxx.)

  1. A chance to relive the film in-store? I’d like the lamb stew with dried plums, please.

  2. The relationship between me and the Subway foot-long veggie patty sub is the most fraught relationship in my life.

  3. Oh perfect! I’ll take a District 12-inch Jalapeno Melt on Peeta bread, please, with the blood of the innocent ha ha I mean hot sauce on the side.

  4. Disappointed they’re not including any extraterrestrial channels in this communications campaign.

  5. They’re just trying to recreate the success of Chik-Fil-A’s promotional Ender’s Game product, the Orson Scott Cardon Bleu.

  6. Did anyone else see that Cover Girl has a Catching Fire makeup line out too? I’m starting to feel a little ashamed that I am straight up SO excited to see this movie.

  7. Whenever I go to a chain I always think to myself how can I make this as (enter movie title) like as possible? Please let me eat while others starve.

  8. It’s cute that Subway pretends that it has ever enhanced any experience.

  9. Satisfy your Hunger Games with these sandwiches!

  10. Remember when Peeta was laying down in the river with homemade camouflage, covered in leaves and earthly detritus? That scene is the embodiment of the Subway sandwich experience.

  11. the spiciness of their “Sriracha sauce” is an abomination and insult to actual Sriracha. i had them give me a double dose on the chicken melt and i hardly cried at all.

  12. Makes sense to me. Subway has always had the dystopian sandwich game cornered.

  13. I really do hope Jared is in the movie.
