I tried to avoid watching this because I was pre-bored of the latest Perez Hilton thing before it even happened, but Kelly Clarkson did this interview this morning with some predatory radio station DJ doing that thing where they try to get celebrities to comment on the private lives of other celebrities, and she just WENT FOR IT and genuinely laughed in the most sincere and truly amused way at Perez in a way only a pop star who isn’t a gigantic hole of need can confidently do. Kelly is actually generous about Fergie, but for contrast, remember this whole thing started with Fergie, a 34-year-old professional woman, confronting the internet’s village idiot for drawing on photos of her. Kelly Clarkson is the best:

Kelly Clarkson now has her own asterisk in my “All celebrities would probably be nightmares to actually know” policy.

  1. no kelly, you are 10000000x more beautiful than fergie

  2. She’s totally rocking my face off with her response, but you just know Perez Hilton’s probably going to break his blog hand from all the penises and cum dribbles he’ll be angrily drawing on her pictures.

  3. Man. Kelly Clarkson. She’s cool.

  5. Interviewing Kelly Clarkson seems so fun!

      • No, it actually is not very good. Comparing Perez Hilton to Rhianna and Matthew Sheppard? Are you kidding? What is wrong with you that you don’t understand how things are?
No one deserves to be punched in the face, but no one deserves to be ridiculed and humiliated in the way that Perez does for all his idiotic readers. Even going to his site gives him pageviews, so declining to do so will help at least a little bit.
(Also, I watched the video of Will.I.Am and he has a very soothing voice. Maybe he could work out a book on tape deal).

Sure, no one needs a beating. But it’s not wearing a skirt while walking down the street; it’s walking up to a bunch of skinheads and going, “all your girlfriends are unfulfilled and alienated”.

Being gay or being a woman can’t be prevented without changing who you are. All Perez has to do is stop blogging.

Wonderful. Now I have the image of Perez saying “Which one of you bitches wants to dance?” in my head. But with an Irish accent. Now I’m disgusted and aroused – THANK YOU

Life would suck without Kelly Clarkson.

  7. I’d find her a whiole lot more likeable if she’d change her stance on the whole “hitting people is not the answer” thing, because sometimes it is the answer Kelly Clarkson. Sometimes it is the answer.

  8. 2 words:

  9. Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like that.

  10. She is so right. Somebody clocking Perez Hilton is exactly like when the host of Cheaters got stabbed. It was gonna happen eventually, and everyone is OK with it.

  11. I don’t get why his blog got to be so popular in the first place. Does anyone know?

Kelly Clarkson, you are my favorite.

For the record…..Fergie is NOT beautiful

  13. I’ve always kind of hated Kelly Clarkson’s songs and wondered if she had signed some kind of deal with the devil to get so popular, but recently I have begun to realize that she is actually sort of cool. This sort of thing helps.

  14. Kelly Clarkson is the Best. Perez is the Worst, obviously. He shit a brick during the whole Isaiah Washington/TR Knight thing, led the mission to crucify Miss California, and constantly uses his site as some kind of musguided platform for gay rights, then throws around the word faggot? GTFO.

Whoever hit him deserves a national medal of honor. Obama, get on that please.

I’ve always been kind of secretive/ashamed about liking Kelly Clarkson, but, gosh darn it, you just can’t get away from that charm.

  16. Fergie is pretty, but her (admitted) past meth addiction has taken a toll on her face. She is 34, and looks older than Kylie Minogue who is 42.

Either way, besides the point, personally I think yes, it’s not surprising that Perez was punched in the face. However, the whole “he had it coming” is kind of a slippery slope. A lot of guys say this about rape victims that dressed provocatively.

I think the biggest mistake Perez made is addressing this in the media. He really should have not said anything at all about the assault, but ceased coverage of everything related to BEP. This poor me thing is really hurting his “I don’t give a fucking shit!” branding.

Like it or not, Perez gets around 10 million hits a day… he’s not going anywhere, it’s a free service. Even though he isn’t well liked, people who hate him (including myself) regularly check his blog. The biggest punishment he could deal is making it seem like the BEPs don’t exist. Instead, he’s giving them massive fucking press…

Sounds a little sadistic. If I hate something, I don’t force myself to endure it unless I absolutely have to. I haven’t been to PH’s site for at least a year because there is absolutely nothing of value to find there and any “news” is on other sites first.

Meanwhile, I’m not sure “he had it coming” but there are some things you don’t do. You don’t shout fire in a crowded theater, for example, and then bitch about getting trampled. Using certain words evokes a reaction and right or wrong that’s just the way it is.

I’ve actually “followed” Kelly’s career since the first AI…she just seemed so cool and down-to-earth. In the years since, she’s totally not changed. She gets fat, and doesn’t appear on US two weeks later talking about it (see: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson, Tyra, etc.).

I don’t ilke the blonde hair, fo’ sheezy.

Plus, she can sing, make fun of herself, and Ted Leo covers her.

    Guest blogger indeed!

  18. *sigh* I dream of the day the Fergie tag will no longer have to be used on Videogum…

If there is anyway to give Kelly Clarkson a point I would like to do so. After watching that long 12 min video of Perez explaining his side of the story, I wanted to laugh because of how ridiculous he made the situation. It’s always a classy touch to conclude a video trying to portray yourself as the victim by calling someone the b word.

Love love love Kelly Clarkson! She seems halfway normal. Although “my life would suck without you” would be a way better song if it were “my life WON’T suck without you”. Empower your bad self, Kelly.
