“Finally, an award show for us! The nerds!” Ugh, imagine. Hahah. Sometimes it’s just fun to imagine things only to make yourself mad. Someone saying, “You know, for years us geeks have had to sit through everybody else’s awards shows — the Academy Awards, the VMAs, the Teen Choice Awards, and I could go on and on and on — and now it’s time for them to sit through our awards show! THE GEEKIE AWARDS! IT’S OUR TIME!” Hahahaha, ahhhh, what a nightmare. “WHO RUN THE WORLD? (GEEKS!)” But, so, anyway, The Geekie Awards is an award ceremony that newly exists. If I have to know the Geekie Awards exists and is a thing that happened on Sunday, and if I have to have looked at who presented and who won at the Geekie Awards’ website, you have to, too. I’m not going to carry the self-congratulatory award show meets self-congratulatory nerd culture weight alone. I’m only one person! The first award, the Lifetime Achievement Award, was presented by Seth Green to Stan Lee. And then he sang a song about Geeks? I don’t know, I’m already buried, don’t wake me up!

I can’t hear you under the weight of all this dirt! My bones are being crushed and I felt the pain at first, but now it just feels right. The darkness is somehow getting darker? Both darker and brighter. You’d think not being able to breathe would be frustrating, but it’s actually kind of a relief! The bugs are my friends now. Goodnight! (Via FilmDrunk.)

  1. Just what the world needs; another award show!

  2. I would like to give a special nomination to geeks who don’t think they’re geeks everywhere. Those are the geekiest geeks of them all. There is nothing geekier than blunt denial of your geekdom. But not me, I’m not a geek.

    • Which is why there must be some awkward conversations when they call up to let people know they’ve won… “You’re the best geek in the world! Congratulations!” “I’m the best what?”

  3. I want to punch everyone involved in this right in their Firefly: The Complete Series DVD.

  4. Can anyone establish the difference between nerd and geek? For some reason I’m more inclined to be a nerd, but never inclined to be a dork. Geek doesn’t really cross my radar.

  5. I feel bad for the cleaning crew. So many boogers were surreptitiously wiped on those auditorium seats that night.

  6. Oh my god, they already have so many awards shows for geeks. It’s called “All the technical awards that get handed out before the televised portion of every other awards show.”

But I am kind of curious how many awards The Big Bang Theory pulled in at this particular awards show for geeks-who-are-just-showbiz-people.

  7. I’ll get on it, right after I watch the Spike Video Game Awards.

  8. Let’s have the Videogum commenting awards! I declare myself winner of Best Rainicorn Avatar.

  9. You all can’t see it, but trust that I am making one hell of a nonplussed glare right now.

  10. Things I like about this because of the high level of professionalism:

    1) Live Parkour Stan Lee is wearing clothing consistent with Taped Parkour Stan Lee but not with actual Live Stan Lee.
    2) Seth Green taking video of Stan Lee’s speech with his phone

  11. Speaking as an an oaf, one day we’ll get our day. One day.

  12. Oh man, the comically stereotypical 80′s and early 90′s bullies everywhere were right. Fuck Geeks, they need their ego bruised.

  13. Who is that lady host? Is it that girl from Warehouse 13 who is the “hacker girl” who only speaks in web jargon and text-speak? That character drives me crazy.

Ohhh she’s from G4, which is nearly as bad.
