Remember Raffi? He was a man who made a lot of money singing dumb songs for kids in the ’80s and ’90s. Somebody had the idea to mash up one of Raffi’s live concert performances of the classic hit “Banana Phone,” with the music of Lil’ Jon, and that idea turned out to be a good one:
Hahaha. It’s funny because Raffi actually is “rapping,” but hey wait a second! Why was anyone with the ability to conceive of this mashup watching a Raffi video in 2009? Is that like, the new hipster trend? Suspicious!

when i have kids, they’ll definitley listen to Raffi. That’s how I was raised and I turned out TV.
p.s. I never realized how much Raffi looks like a skinny version of Duff from Ace of Cakes.
absolutely wonderful
A Lil Bigger mixes REALLY well with childrens music

I’ve been listening to that mashup for a LONG time.
i remember running around in a circle with my brother and neighbour kids to the little duck song. the only rap i knew back then was the theme song to fresh prince.
Boom goes the childhoodsongamite.
Baby Baloooooooooga
whoa whoa whoa. raffi is the SHIT. i remember that rap song. it was called ‘brush your teeth.’ goood times.
Uh…yeah. It’s a “new” hipster trend. DJ’s and mashup artists just started making mashups with kiddie songs last Wednesday. (sometime in the nineties.)
And they’re “hipsters.”
Raffi’s not for children; he’s for people.
Or maybe i just tell myself that because i didn’t start listening to him until i was 17 years old – and well out of the 90s.
But seriously, Robin in the Rain is my jam.
That’s a stone COLD jam. I met the guy once, nice ass dude. (Though the rumor goes that he developed a phobia of meeting kids due to their inability to not be germ-ridden and snot-filled.)

Baby Beluga and Shake My Sillies Out are not dumb songs. He is awesome live, a true Canadian treasure.
I never thought I’d say this: thank you Canada.
FOR ONCE WE PREVAIL!
Also, Mr. Dressup, Fred Penner, Sharon, Lois and Bram.
Canada: I Guess You Guys Aren’t Ready For That Yet. But Your Kids Are Gonna Love It.
(it’s a long tagline, but we can make it work.)
But, Bananaphone has been big on the internet for several years now, spawning hundreds of youtube videos. I admit, when a friend of mine first started being obsessed with this song I was a little confused and suspicious too, until I realized it was just another meme.
The only reason I kind of know who he is is because of The Simpsons.

Roofi!
Now 52% larger!

I love the girl doing toothbrush curls. BULKIN’ UP.
oh man, I loved Raffi so much. thank you for reminding me of my childhood.
This makes me want to actually listen to lil’ jon now.
Raffi was the first concert I ever went to. Sharon, Lois and Bram was second.
I still sing the apples and banana song. My boyfriend thinks I’m slightly insane.
