This is where we’re at? This is what it has come to? It’s all DOMA hill from here! (Very very good one.) These photos are from an “article”(JK) with the headline “Mindy Kaling Leaving a Friend’s House.” Powerful stuff. What, do you have something better? 9/11 was, like, a bunch of years ago, you should know this by now: if you see something, SAY SOMETHING. (The most important lesson of 9/11 was sending in useful tips to pop culture blogs, y/y?) I know that the Senate passed an immigration reform bill today, or whatever, but what does that have to do with CELEBS and PACIFIC RIM?! You know, the stuff that MATTERS?! Seriously, if you have something better to share with the group, please do so, otherwise it’s just going to be wall to wall “Mindy Kaling Leaving a Friend’s House” chit chat. Do you have a friend who lives in a house? Tell us what you think about friends and houses in the comments!

  1. Today someone posted an article on Facebook about how science has proven that dog owners are more successful than cat owners. It was total hogwash! One of the criteria they mentioned was that dog owners are more likely to own their own houses, which A) is a rather uncertain measure of success, particularly in today’s market, and B) is probably influenced by the fact that dogs tend to be bigger than cats, and thus are more likely to be found with people who own houses, rather than people who rent, and may have an apartment instead.

  2. I never really watched Friends or House, but Kelly seems to really like Friends.

  3. Anybody else utterly disappointed in today’s lack of friendly chat? I spend every Thursday keeping up on all the happenings, and comparing them to Videogum posts. Then I try to figure out what was missed, and what’s being saved for the friendly chat. I was SURE it would be about the guy who was “inspired by Breaking Bad” to kill his girlfriend! What a let-down!

  4. Slow commenting day, too?! Holy moly, you guys, I am supposed to be WORKING or DOING HOMEWORK! Where the hell is my distraction? I guess I could just come up with nicknames for Gabe.

  5. I don’t have any friends who live in houses anymore. There used to be this shitty, run-down house that my friends and I all cycled through in our early 20s when we were too broke to rent a real place to live. There would be 5-6 people living there at any given moment, pretty much all of the furniture was left behind by past generations of my friend-group, there were permanent stains on the carpet, the floors sagged in the middle and it always kind of smelled, but it was the perfect place to put off growing up and being a real adult. I met most of my best friends there, and had my best parties. I moved out a couple of years ago, but for a while it was still the social center for all of us. But then this year the landlord decided to renovate it and move back in with his own family and now I’ll never go back there again. More than having a real job and an apartment of my own and being 27, this makes me feel so old. Life, man!

This tl;dr comment brought to you by the fact that I am bored and there is nothing to do at work today.

  6. Today I learned I can stand overly positive people. I think mine are the grumpy sort. Like Gabe on slow news days.

  7. If you guys are bored can we talk about rock hyraxes and their FACES??

What are those facial expressions?? I can’t get enough of them.

  8. I’m allergic to something in my lawn. I think it’s hydrangeas. Is anyone allergic to hydrangeas and if so, do you get a prickly rash? It may also be humidity. I hate heat and humidity so much. Uh oh… I’m complaining already and I’m not even inside the Dome.

  9. Slow News Days always follow a good SCOTUS decision.

  10. This was not the question, but HIT IT.

  11. BIG NEWS DAY FOR FACETACO!

I just learned that Paula Deen has a new book coming out, called “Paula Deen’s New Testament: 250 Favorite Recipes, All Lightened Up,” which is PROBABLY not the best title she could have come up with, given the circumstances. She was also once featured in a book called “Extraordinary Comebacks: 201 Inspiring Stories of Courage, Triumph, and Success.” Books by or about Paula Deen are basically destined to become ironically titled, although not so much as Jerry Sandusky and his autobiography, “Touched.”

  12. Guys, on this, the day of slow news, I came up with this pun: “I need a video game to console me.”

  13. No news is good news, right?

  14. you’re welcome for these awesome pics. i edited them and wrote the novella like caption when i sent them out to the world.

  15. I can just imagine Mindy’s reaction to this.
“I can’t even leave a friend’s house anymore without people getting nosey?!
