Coooooooool. Cool dance party! Remember to invite me next time, the party is so normal and I’m having so much fun! (Via SayOMG.)
I just made that half-whine, half-yelp sound dogs make when they’re scared.
I only needed to watch half a second of that video in order to be excited that it’s Friday.
It clearly took a lot of time and energy to put this together but it’s still pretty creepy. Sometimes you just put a lot of hard work into something and it doesn’t pan out. THAT’S LIFE, QUEEN. Great effort, though.
I could not look away creepy or not, and I will always have love for any Apache dance routine.
The only thing that it was missing was Pony.
She looks like Jigsaw’s mom.
Looks like Shaye St. John IS alive!
I’m just going to pretend that Settle by Disclosure is playing over this and that will make it better. That album, hoooooooooollllyyy shit so good pie dot gif.
You need to be talking to manners! He is in love with that album right now.
really excited to see them play this fall…the first time I heard “Blue You” on a mix was a memorable moment
Yeah I definitely just bought a ticket I can’t fucking wait. First time I heard “Latch” I stopped what I was doing and was like holy shit I have to know who this is right now.
WHOA! Wait! Where are you seeing them? They aren’t coming to Boston, so I don’t know what to do!
I’ve noticed that Boston doesn’t have much of an electronic/dance nightlife. Unless you like club remixes of Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber.
I am seeing them at Central Park Summerstage in New York on August 6. Come to New York and see them!
SOLD! I was just looking at the website. It’s a shame it’s a Tuesday, but OH WELL! Julio Bashmore added to it makes it all the more worthwhile.
I’m so confused by that Latch video though…on the one hand a lot of the scenes are well shot and have good art direction, but it feels like an episode of the Hills or Gossip Girl or insert show about rich white kids here, where the plot is everyone makes out. I did like how the mixed up the couples representation, but they gave that gay (male) couple one longing glance and then never used them again while as soon as they touched on the lesbian couple all of the sudden they were the focus of the video. Sorry to be a music buzzkill with sex and gender analysis guys, but I hadta!
That video was indeed a bit baffling. However I will say that it is probably one of the only music videos of late that I stuck around to the end. Music videos this days are just the worst. Except Froggy Fresh. Can’t hate on that guy.
The thing about this is it’s a dumb music video and music videos today, by and large, can be fully ignored and nothing will be lost. I wouldn’t bother with getting upset about it, because it’s honestly not worth the time/energy to get upset about.
the best music video I’ve seen in a while is for Connan Mockasin’s “Faking Jazz Together”…it’s really something
If it is at all possible to wear out a digital copy of an album, I’m doing it with this one.
Your mp3 will eventually wear down to a mp2. And so on and so on, et cetera, et cetera.
At this point it’s at mp -17
I laughed so hard at this.
saturnian! AAAAAAH! I have so much to say about Settle and Disclosure in general! They haven’t released a dud since their remix of Jessie Ware’s “Running” not that I went further back than that, though.
1. Friendly Fires has never sounded so good before than on this album.
2. People are hating on Jessie Ware’s track, but I think it is one of the best.
3. The Intro kills me.
4. The Outro knocked me for a loop. I can’t believe how incredibly powerful that track is!
5. Everything in between, especially “Stimulation,” is near perfection.
Disclosure is on top of the world right now.
2. Jessie Ware’s track is good, but the vocals elsewhere on the album, particularly Latch and Voices, absolutely own everything that it probably gets overshadowed.
3. The Intro leading in to When A Fire Starts to Burn gives me goosebumps.
4. The Outro is amazing as well.
5. Stimulation, that song is unbelievable. The way they bring all the chopped up vocals together over the bassline is just such a rush every time I listen to it.
6. “Grab Her!” contains a vocal sample of J Dilla, because apparently this album was made to make me geek out with music nerd joy.
So I first heard this album from a stream on Guardian, and they mentioned that there’s deep debate over this album? Is this true? I mean, it’s not the most groundbreaking sound out there, but I have trouble understanding how people can really hate this album.
I grabbed the link so I had that going for me a week before the release. At work, without headphones I went to the Guardian to listen to it and read the debate about it. Mostly, what I garnered was an argument over substance versus style. People were trying to pinpoint what genre it was and others were complaining that it is so corny, where all the lyrics seem to make people cringe. I can’t see one thing wrong with it. And when they delved into the UK Garage genre on “Defeated No More,” I died. These guys know just how each genre is supposed to sound. I’ll admit that none of these tracks will make my top ten tracks list of the year, but as a whole, they may be my number one album.
Yep. Yep. Yep.
Me, the whole time:
Happy Friday everyone! Next time i read your witticisms i will be back home in SF! Exclamation Points!!
Good-bye, Flaskie! Have a great journey home!!!
NO Kelly, NO to this.
Wow. This is why I’m wary of performance art. Because it can turn into nightmare fuel so easily.
I’ll stick with watching the more fabulous and less creepy cousin of this concept:
It’s creepysad if you imagine that inside this dancing queen is the world’s most misunderstood 9th grader, a boy who spent literally months perfecting the tech, designing the animatronic Helena Bonham Carter faceppliance, lining up the songs, choreographing the routine, setting up the cameras, and editing until, with a mix of trepidation and hopeless hope he sent it off into the world.
“Looks like you had a lot of fun, please don’t eat my skin!” seems to be the most appropriate thing to say.
a) Why did I watch the whole thing?
b) “Dancing Queen style” ???? What????
