Last night, Rebel Wilson was given the honor of hosting the MTV Movie Awards, the most star-studded evening of movie trailer premieres and nonsense awards, some of which actually just do not make any sense, on television! Hooray for Rebel Wilson! I actually watched a fair amount of the awards on television last night, because I don’t need to give you a reason, how dare you judge me, and boy oh boy was it strange! It was both surprising how many celebs were there, and how many celebs were not? Like, Jennifer Lawrence was not there and the whole night was basically sponsored by Hunger Games AND she and Bradley Cooper won best kiss. Bradley was left with no one to kiss except for his lonely, stupid bag of popcorn garbage trophy! WE WANNA SEE A HOT HOT KISS, JENNIFER! JK. Jennifer, you did the right thing. Oh, and after doing some research just now, I’ve found that she ALSO won “Best Female Performance,” which wasn’t announced during the broadcast. I’m sure it’s still an honor. The big event of the night was that Aubrey Plaza ran onstage while Will Ferrell was accepting his “Comedic Genius” award (sure) and half-heartedly tried to take his trophy away. MTV claims that this was not staged and that Aubrey Plaza was removed immediately afterwards, but if it was not staged why was Aurbey Plaza seated with a bunch of nobodies in the first row, right in front of the steps? DO YOU THINK WE WERE BORN YESTERDAY, MTV? YOU WILL NOT BRUNO-EMINEM US AGAIN! Uhhh, what else. When Kerry Washington presented Jamie Foxx with his “The Generation Award” award (sure), they cut to a shot of him as he took gum out of his mouth. Hahah. Great awards show, A+. Aubrey Plaza gag + full list of the handful of winners after the jump.

  1. I actually watched some of this garbage because we put it on after GoT. Also, when you split 3 bottles of wine between 4 people, watching MTV just seems like a good idea.

All I want to know- is Aubrey Plaza dating her gay boyfriend from Parks? Because that would be amazing.

    Otherwise, it was garbage.

    • If you think Ernest`s story is astonishing…, last pay-cheque my daughter also earnt $5004 workin seventeen hours a week an their house and there friend’s step-mother`s neighbour has been doing this for 6 months and got more than $5004 in their spare time On there computer. apply the advice from this site……. http://xurl.es/tsn4a

  2. I believe that Aubrey Plaza thing was planned, and if it wasn’t, I give her a free pass because she’s funny on Parks & Rec. Everyone on that show gets a free pass.

  3. There is so much to be annoyed with here, but the part that annoys me the most is that MTV owns a movie production company, and is owned by Viacom, who also owns several other movie production companies. This whole thing is basically one big, televised circle jerk, with probably some others invited to participate.

  4. did you guys see the trailer for Catching Fire? I’m pretty excited about it. I’ve rewatched it a couple times. Like, a totally reasonable number of times.

  5. I’m more interested in who wins the annual Gummy Award for best shirtless performance. It’s pretty much decided at this point, though. Who can compete with this?

  6. Can someone please explain to me what “The Generation Award” even MEANS?

  7. I loved it, mostly because one of my ex-girlfriends works for MTV, and it brings a song to my heart watching the network continue to go down in flames during her tenure. Ah schadenfreude…

  8. The category “Best Shirtless Performance” hurts my soul. Also, if this is the case, how has MTV not caved and just added categories like “Best On Screen Poop” or “Most Original Use of Social Media in a Movie”? I need to take a shower.

  9. Pretty much unrelated because I had no idea this crapfest was happening yesterday, but I watched Safety Not Guaranteed starring Aubrey Plaza over the weekend, and it’s a pretty great movie.
