Mad Men‘s second season is coming to Australia, and they’re advertising it sneakily with this fake commercial for a pots and pans company that is sure to send modern ladies rushing to the website to complain. Now your husbands meals can look as pretty as you do:

The url, of course, goes to a site that quickly reveals itself to be about Mad Men, with the oddly literal tagline “Advertising In The ’60s” and an explanation that sexist ads were part of the game back then. It’s a little less subtle than necessary, but I guess they don’t want to offend any delicate lady sensibilities. (Via AdRants.)

  1. that is ridiculous and awesome. i am still waiting for season 2 on netflix because i was lazy and didn’t watch any of it this year. loved season 1, though.

    how does it compare?

  2. now THIS is the kind of viral marketing KINGS needed. But that ship’s run it’s course.
    =(

Can’t wait for season 3 of Mad Men though. I saw some casting calls for the season opener and all they’re casting are prostitutes.

I’m speculating in the worst way.

  3. Better question: season 3 starts when?

  4. so over secret viral advertising or whatever.

also poor Kings :( that show kind of sucked but I was hoping it would pull through anyway.

  5. nice site…i wonder how many people will end up checking it out.

  6. Yeah our free-to-air stations only got MadMen like a month ago.

Meanwhile season 2 finished on our cable AGES ago.

SBS is a really great station though, it won’t edit the show at all.
